Hey Pros,

I have 100 or so domains--most parked at Parked.com. I've made enough this year to list the income on my tax form (if $600 is the lower limit; I'll find out soon enough). In other words, I'm not quitting my day job.

Through various means, usually perusing "most-popular searches" on Yahoo, Google and MSN, I've bought some domain names that generate 5 to 10 clicks a day (sometimes less), but no income to speak of. And I'm at a loss at how to maximize their potential since I have to rely on Parked keywords and my requests to my account manager.

I'm sure I could initiate more clicks if I developed the Web sites myself, but I'm right-brained gosh-darn-it and am virtually computer-illiterate. Here are the major "Lookie Lou But No Follow Thru" domains:

FlatAbsDiet.com
TheMiracleSuit.com
TheRealHousewivesofAtlanta.com (becoming more popular as the show does)
Hatenkoyugi.com (seems to be in the Pokemon vein but not sure)
Nikespark.com
SpaceAgeClothingLine.com (not sure, really, what type of clothing this is).

Again, I realize I could do better if I were able to modify the Web sites myself rather than rely on Parked.com, for the most part--but, sadly, I don't have the expertise.

Should I try to sell any/all of the above. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Mariah

Hi Mariah,

For one reason or another, certain parking companies perform better for certain keywords. If after optimizing it as best you can (eg. Flat abs diet should have "diet-related" ads) you're still earning nothing, consider switching the domains which aren't performing to a different parking company. Most of us use 2 or 3.

no, take the time into manually developing them. if you have the time and money to pickup those domains, then you have the time to develop them.

also, you're going to have a hard time, going out, seeking to sell those domains in today's market. it seems to be a buyers market right now in domains. it's not like one e-mail is going to generate a sale. it takes a full portfolio of domains to generate consistent leads

and i'm not sure what kind of end user would approach you for those domains. it seems better suited for another domainer, which you could charge a premium for if the sites were already developed, bringing in money

you dont have to do everything yourself, you can pay people to help you out

Egads man! Spring for a WhyPark account! If you get that many pageviews with a simple parked page, imagine what some content could do. :D
Not sure? Read this: http://www.timmyth.com/page.cfm/id/39708
That'll explain some of the economics of using nothing but adsense ads to generate a profit on your "undeveloped" domains. You can make more by getting some affiliate links (detailed here: http://www.timmyth.com/page.cfm/id/42829) and some audio ads (and here: http://www.timmyth.com/page.cfm/id/92563).

Might as well make enough that there's no question about whether you need to file taxes or not.

Honestly, I'm not sure what kind of content you would put in a domain called SpaceAgeClothingLine.com, more like fashionable astronaut suits?

Also, I'm beginning to think that most netizens are already wising up that when they get into a parked page, they know all the links are just advertiser come-ons, rather than really informative content.
