DEVELOPED .Mobi sites Showcase

Yes I know...there's a ton of mobi threads but this one is for showing our developed sites and tips and tricks for those of us developing them.

I just did a mini one page .mobi site using Godaddy's website tonight. Even though they show all these templates in the builder....for the .mobi you must do without. It was pretty easy, though. Please feel free to visit it and let me know how it is on your mobile phone. Thanks!

Just a quick edit: Has everyone here checked their sites on the Emulator, but using the SONY skin, not the default Nokia one ?? I seem to have problems viewing my site on the Sony skin, whereas the Nokia one works fine. Is anyone else having any problems with this ???

The emulator has had many bugs in the past 2 months, but dotMobi has been really good about fixing them. If you a found a new bug you should contact dotMobi at [email protected] or post it on their blog at http://dotmobi.typepad.com/

Alex I've had no problems with either of the emulators for my sites.

Hmmm maybe this thread is in the wrong section?
Or are most people parking their sites...

Folks, just a thought. Especially those developed sites with images, how about giving an option to users on the homepage to turn off the images.

I am sorry but I have no idea how to do this on my sites. I made sure my images are small (photoshop) and they are "green light" on the Website Tonight size rater.

Has anyone figured out templates for the .mobi sites?
What we need is a simple page and a css file to go with it.
Or has anyone started a template site?
It is something that is needed and the persons who do this will get a lot of traffic I imagine.

Ok, I made a simple blog at www.WirelessWeb.mobi. It works in all the browsers and in my cellphone and some emulators I tried. I didnt use any plugins because I want them to have access to the pages and not just posts. Anyway, just a start.

Has anybody else noticed Opera Mini doesn't recognize the line-break <br> command?

It's creating a problem for me...

db are you using <br> or <br /> ?

The <br /> one is the one you are supposed to use with xhtml.

He must be using plain old wordpress, looks good! Can you see the black background ok on your cellphone?

I don't have a mobile! (Yeah and here's me making mobi sites heehee) so I couldn't tell if the background shows. I guess they don't.

Was able to finally get something up on http://ihotels.mobi

Havent had the chance yet to get the code validated or anything like that, but at least I was able to put something up, rather than leaving it empty.

Interesting .Mobi sites

I was going through this thread last 15 minutes and it's quite interesting the number of .mobi sites members are working on. I checked many of them, and it's a very good beginning (liked iHotels.mobi a lot, so easy to navigate).

I co-ordinate a .mobi site directory @ Mobinomy (http://www.mobinomy.com ) and I see that I have already included quite a few .mobi sites mentioned in this forum. I will include the rest in the next couple of days.

I also request those those who are interested in submitting their sites to the directory to do by visiting Mobinomy or sending an email to me - narsi at esource dot in - just convert this into a proper mail ID!

well - I have had www.scubadiver.mobi up for a couple of weeks... and it's getting hits too! LOL.... now I need something cool for it... I was toying with the idea of creating online dive logs that upload via bluetooth from dive computers to the phone... but that is a hell of a programming investment....

Cute site! I like the animated gifs. They show OK on mobiles?
