I am trying to find how domains are viewed by search engines if the words are not in the natural order e.g professional golfer is something that maybe searched for and I would imagine there is a site listed as proffesionalgolfer dot com if you regged golferprofesional dot com this doesn't read correctly but presumably you would title your site still as professional golfer. Would it be picked up just as well by the search engines as it is made up of the same keywords or is this not a good idea ?

Any suggestions appreciated to help my education.

If golferprofesional dot com is the best domain name you can get i would go with that. Its really how good the site is too.

a website's domain doesn't play that big a role in terms of ranking high on result pages.

There is a lot of theory on this topic. I would say a domain extension has some weight on serps but isn't the number 1 factor.

[Insert my opinion}
.com is king and most likely always will be therefore go with a .com if you can. In saying that there are nothing wrong with the .net, .org, .info, etc. extensions. Its more about the people of the world outside this industry who are unaware that anything other that .com exists :P
