Have you ever gone to type in a website, like google or something, mispelled it, and come to some asshole's page parked at sedo/goldkey/domainsponsor or whatever?

Don't you hate that? >_>

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I have done this several times...

It is irratating, but I can just hit the back key, and type in the correct address.

It really doesn't bother me that much.

Oh wow, that scared me for a sec. I thought he was either a hypocrit or had a split personality. I saw that the avatar was the same and assumed that it was the same person contradicting himself.

BOT It doesn't bother me at all, and I blame myself for typing in the wrong thing while by the way you typed, looks like you blame the person who registered the misspelled word.

It doesn't irritate me much becoz I'm a fan of typo names myself :p

They don't bother me that much, oftentimes I realize my mistake before the page loads anyway.

Typo names make a lot of revenue, though I've never invested in them myself.

What would you suggest they do with it?

BTW- This "A:$::$:hole" does quite well with them and I'm betting I'm not alone, at least not in this forum.

Thousands of domains are bought specifically for that purpose. I've got my useless names parked at sedo, never ever ever ever ever had a click yet lol, so not worth much for me.
What are ya doin at a domain forum if you hate that ;) ;) ;).
They dont annoy me too much, at least it doesnt redirect to some porn site or something ridiculous. And also, they teach us a lesson about writing too fast :P
Just my opinion :D

Atleast you didn't find a picture of some naked fat guy sitting on the comode. But then again it might be your thing.

its iritating some times..but before anything happens .. i just hit back key and type in the name correctly..there;s no other option

its not really irritating, i realize i was stupid enough to make an easy mistake in typing, so most of the times i give a click to the owner -like saying well done, you bought the right typo and tricked me ;) :)

I own hundreds of typo domains that are all parked. You might get annoyed by going to my parked pages, but since most of them are bank typos, be thankful I don't throw up a fake login page and steal your info!...I'd never do that. The parked pages pay me enough legally where I don't have to resort to scamming people.

Guess that makes me an Asshole and evil too then - Personally speaking though I learnt how to spell without using the trial and error method so I don't tend to go to typo sites ;) When I do end up at a parked page, in general the ad content is applicable to my original request anyway and 7/10 times I'll click through - everybody is happy!

Remember you are on a domain / website development forum, by referring to people who own typo's as assholes you are actually addressing a relatively high percentage of the members here.

What would you rather we do, put a page up that said “No idiot, you spelt it wrong!” ?? _\|/_ :gl:

Typo domains might also be sold for nice prices.
For example, aljazzera.net is a typo for aljazeera.net and was sold for $3,750 USD on Afternic.

I don't mind at all when I'm the guilty one for typing the wrong address, unless it's some dirty site or has lots of pop-ups.

I don't mind it either, it's got to be better than a blank page !
I only own 1 typo poker domain but it brings in about 1/2 of my monthly click revenue so I'm not complaining :)

I can see why people have hundreds of them.
