Wouldn't it be nice if there was an end-user contact service that sales your low or mid-value names? There are brokers for premium names, but not for less than premium names.

What other type of service would you say is lacking in the domain name industry?

There is a difference, there is no community described as 'end-user' while 'reseller/domainer's is a community. Every end-user is an individual/company. So it will be hard to identify a 'group' of 'end-users' to market to. Some individual or company decides one day that they need a name, so they go out and start looking for names.

Beside having the issue of unidentified buyers, there is a question of the 'merchandise' itself (If I may call it). As a business, they are willing to spend a decent money (upward of $1000), so they may not be interested in low-end names. So you are left with individuals who want to have personal sites like blogs and they may not pay upward of $100 for the name - which they can do themselves. I do not have to state it, quality names are less comparatively. As said by many, quality over quantity ( @Kate ). And even people with $100 budget want the best names. So it will be difficult to get entertained by them even. Not to mention, sometimes desperate sellers sell quality names for heavy discounts, and with buyer stretching their budget can make it happen. Golden question is 'what is the real price of a domain?' - it is all relative/subjective.

There is two main problems in this process.

1) Domainer (we) don't accept that our domains are low quality domains.
2) Sale Price & Negotiation. If someone brought $150 for low quality names / hand regged, we (domainer) will ask $400 for it.

There is lot of understanding required between seller & service provider. ,<JMO>

There's a huge problem with brokering low quality domain names... low commission.

Take a $100,000 sale at the minimum of 10%, a cool $10,000, which is acceptable by whoever put forward the work to get that sale.

I don't think anyone, or I should say myself, would attempt to sell a $100 domain name, spending the same amount of time as I would attempting to sell a $100,000 name, to receive a mere $10.

:)

I'm sure it's a typo but 10% of $100,000. = $10,000 an even cooler commission lol

:xf.grin:
