I'm wondering why there's sooooo many black "Paid & Reserved" spaces on his homepage? It's been like that for quite awhile. If I purchased space and a week+ later my ad & ALTTEXT weren't there I'd be a little upset.
They're missing out on all the media hype.

What's the deal ya think? I know Alex has a crew working with him so there's no excuse why their ads aren't up... unless of course they aren't REALLY "Paid & Reserved" and he wants to try to sell them for more than the $1/pixel.

Whatever it is, it's BRILLIANT. Haha.

I think those are the pixels he is selling on ebay I think it is like 1k pixels and last time I checked bid was like at $6k so that is $6 a pixel lol.

No... he's selling 1K of pixels, but those are grey pixels that are marked on the auction and you can see those on his page.

The ones I'm talking about are the thousands & thousands of black "Paid & Reserved" ones.

They are blocks that people have paid for because they wanted to be assured of that particular position, but they simply have not yet submitted their pixel graphics or web links.

That just makes no sense to me.
Maybe all those are just resellers?

Why would anyone buy pixels and wait weeks to put something up? They're missing on potentially thousands of hits + revenue. They were smart enough to buy pixels at the right time, so they can't be that dumb to waste the space.

I bought pixels and had no idea what to put up. I then rushed something together and that is what I have today. I'm happy with it but I only bought 400 pixels. Many of those black squares can get you to the website despite not having been finished. Many of those paid and reserved spent thousands on their ad and see it as a long term investment.

If you spent $2000+ on an ad would you prefer to have 3 months black squares and 4.75 years of a good logo/advertisement or 5 years of an embarassing rushed logo.

We all know that.

And to VURG, none of the black regions take you anywhere.

Long-term investment? That's true of course, BUT ... you can't honestly think that the traffic of the last 2 - 3 weeks will be there in 3 months or in 3 years.

im sure traffic will drive down alittle bit, but not to much, bceause we cannot forget that alex is spending almost 7k in advertising a month

omg...:
Current bid: US $38,100.00
(Approximately ยฃ21,662.50)

Is that for real, or did buy his own so that his last 1000 would be more unique and wanted?

Maybe those were bought as an resale investment? :)

Did it increase the amount of visitors to your site?

Yes but at the time that I bought it I didn't have anything worth offering the visitors. I wasn't getting many visitors. I just wanted to get a good position to see if people would buy my domains off me. In retrospect I probably wouldn't do it again under the same conditions. I'm now trying to focus my attention on being more profitable with my time. I've had around 1500 - 2000 visits over 4 blocks since I bought them in September.

MCDomains, I've looked at the site and see you have made a good point. I just expressed what I've assumed. I haven't put much thought into it.

Wow ... people really don't know how to use eBay huh? Does the auction let anyone bid? I just tried and it let me go as far as any other auction, I just didn't click CONFIRM to place it.

I know it says you must be pre-approved, but there is no stopping anyone from bidding as it stands now. Alex can always cancel bids so I wouldn't be surprised to see the price drop back if some are cancelled. Who knows. It's just AMAZING!@@#

Ok... $600K, this is getting a little absurd!

pre-approved bidders my butt.
