It will be less than you think I guess. :)
He has taken the money. Now he has to keep his promise. That is the expensive part of it...

I don't think it's worth that much because I believe it is a short lived fad and that the hype won't last much longer.

The domain name is worthless. The value is in the concept. If he were to sell, it would have to be based on what revenue it is projected to make in the future... which is very little if he sells. The media frenzy that has caused this site to be successful is focused around Alex himself, and his brilliant idea. It's not about the site. If someone else took over, it would be instant death. Traffic would die off, and remaining pixels would be tough to sell.

How much will that cost to host? Surely not a lot compared to his $600k earned so far?

Only value would be in publishing advertisements if he sells after the pixels are gone, and the fad is slowing (The rate of pixel purchases seems to be slowing; the site is now yesterday's news).

If what his critic is saying has any truth to it and if Alex is spending $7,000/month to promote the site, then advertisers on the MDHP are getting a better deal than anticipated! Who WOULDN'T want to have their link on a site that is footing the bill for the enormous amount of traffic being delivered to the advertisers?! Some people are just so jealous they can't even criticize properly. I for one have received far more traffic from my little pixel ad than I ever expected for my little $100 investment. Anything that comes of it now (or for the next five years) is gravy.

If I were going to sell it, I would try to sell it for the difference of the million. But I know for a fact that know one is going to buy it that much unless they are some mdhp.com crazed wacko. Its sorta like the "everyone has a webmaster resource" era last year, when jack cator's zymic got really sucessful with webmaster resources.

I also cant stand everyone copying it, making there own versions. They will never be sucessful like alex, unless its 20 years from now when everyone forgets about it. Its like NamePros.com, its one of a kind

BTW.. I saw something on CNN yesterday about mdhp.com. It was saying how its in the top 10 for fastest growing revenue sites.

MY OPINON: Million Dollar Homepage is yesterdays news, literally, just give up on... THo I do wonder how much bandwidth he uses... and I rather have discussion about it rather than those damn .be domains that everyones spamming the forum with..

OH BTW... Gene, are you the owner of namepros?
