Is that even legal?

why shouldn't it be - once microsoft served them on him they become part of his own legal and personal papers - as long as he did not sign a non-disclosure about anything with microsoft he should be fine

Now at $650

Talk about traffic

I checked the counter and the ebay listing has received almost 91,000 visits! It's over $2,000 now! I want a shirt that says "I like Mike".

I think this guy is not too smart.

If i was at his place, i would sue Microsoft for harassment, and for few tens/hundreds of thousands bigger amount than he will ever get by selling this peace of paper at eBay...

I bet Microsoft will be in there sniping at the last minute ...

Forget $2000, he is about to break $4000 with a week left and 52 bids (some with feedbacks into the hundreds so you know they aren't playing around).

I wonder if Microsoft is going to prevent this type of thing from happening in the future buy not sending a book of info. I also wonder how many people are registering microsoft mispells to get Microsoft to send them books in the mail that they can sell on ebay...

It kind of reminds me when I wrote to the Whitehouse while I was in grade school. They replied with a nice package. Microsoft sends you a book. Maybe they'll send you programming resources free when you give them back the name.

Now its hard to take seriously as it's been bid over $10k
He should have went for a three day sale.

(Why would microsoft really care what happens to the stuff afterwards?)

microsoft would bid because they would not like to see it be published, and yes it is definatly serious.... errr i am pretty sure it is. If a publisher got their hands on it... haha ;)

That might explain how the bidding went from $2,000, to $10,000.

This is probably MS doing. They want their book back.
I wonder if they could publish it...Technically MS is the writer.
Dont know if its copyrighted? Just because you give someone something doesnt really mean they are the owner such as a published book.
