Microsoft-Sony Recommend Nintendo Wii

If in the unlikely event it has been said then I would suggest it is most likely propaganda between the 2 rivals implying that each others machines are not that great.

They aren't saying "Go buy a Wii!"

Microsoft was saying why would you get a PS3 when you could get a 360 and a Wii for the same price.

Basically they just used to for cost-comparison to show how expensive the PS3 will be.

so he is commenting on a console he knows nothing about.

Remember the GameGear Color? That had a backlight and color while the original GameBoy was out.

And I believe Sony was the ones that decided to start using CD's for a gaming storage medium as well, so basically Nintendo does not have much of a trackrecord at all for innovation.

How about the fact that the NES practically paved the way for ALL console gaming after the Atari fell flat on it ass? How about the Gameboy being the very first handheld gaming console?

Or maybe the N64 featuring the very first analogue control stick? As well as the Rumblepak, an idea Sony then used for their Dualshock technology?

Not swiping at you, and i'm by no means a nintendo "fanboi" (I have consoles from all 3 of the manufacturers)

I beleive he was refering to consoles although I think he is wrong I don'rt think it was the playstation being the first console.

The playstation was actually intended to be an addon for another console (super nintendo / snes) but sony and nintendo fell out.

In 1991, the SNES-CD was to be announced at the June CES. However, when Hiroshi Yamauchi read the original 1988 contract between Sony and Nintendo, he was furious. He deemed the contract totally unacceptable, and secretly cancelled all plans for a joint Nintendo-Sony SNES CD attachment. Indeed, instead of announcing their partnership, at 9 am the day of the CES, Nintendo chairman Howard Lincoln stepped onto the stage and revealed that they were now allied with Philips, and were planning on abandoning all the previous work Nintendo and Sony had accomplished. Lincoln and Minoru Arakawa had (unbeknownst to Sony) flown to Philips headquarters in Europe and formed an alliance of a decidedly different nature—one that would give Nintendo total control over its licenses on Philips machines.

I bet nintendo regret that decision now.

The wii is going to be a lot cheaper, under $220. I just dont like the looks of the wii remote.

A while back I saw on tv what they intend to have as a controller and really did not like it 1 bit.

I just dont like the thought of having to wave around a controller to make things happen in the game. Knowing my luck I would sneeze at every important part of the game lol.

Pfft, I think it's great that they're encouraging gamers to be more active when they play. Might help to tackle obesity, and there'll be less stereotypical fat game geeks stumbling around...

I can't make my mind up about getting a Wii yet. I'm going to wait a while until I know more about the games coming out on it...
