I will say they just want to own the trademark considering the fact that they have been trying to break into the crypto payment scene with their Novi/Libra/Diem attempts for a while now

Meta Financial has the trademarks for Meta, Meta Payment Systems and Metabank, all under the financial services class

Correct, FB has no use owning the domain name (if they did probably more leakage/visibility they don't want) because if a buyer approached you and it was FB, you'd hold out for much more $$. But if the buyer was using some fake shell LLC name, maybe you'd be foolish to sell for less.

Now if we can dig up what other purchases this LLC is up to, that would be interesting!

I really wish we could find out what the sold price was...it said negotiations took a month.
if the minister knew it was facebook as buyer, probably got a good high price.
if not, then could have sold for cheaper not knowing who the end buyer was and regretted it
