I read about this one around the time I started domaining in late 2001. Then it looked like the possibility of a drop was looming, so I went for it.

There used to be more info on the web besides what appears in the top sales lists, including interview material from someone associated with the losing $6.7 million bid. (What'ya know - the bid was real.)

It gets traffic, but I'm keeping mum about particulars for now.

Over time I managed to get the other gtld's, then eventually decided to let them drop.

I have to admit to being curious about what happened - why did it drop, what happened to the previous registrant, why didn't he contact the real bidder and take the $6.7 million, and, who made the phony $10 million bid that killed the eBay auction? Was it someone who is now a member at NP or one of the other big forums?:)

Your thoughts are appreciated, and definitely your confession if you indeed are the one. (Will the real Spartacus please stand up?:) )

To Bid or Not to Bid. said:
Web auction sites have received a lot of bad press recently. The May 1999
issue of PC World magazine had an article under their Consumer Watch
section warning about auctions. Here in Canada, a bedroom suite that was
supposedly used by our first Prime Minister (our version of the President
for those who don't know) Sir John A. Macdonald was up for auction at
Bid.com and sold for several hundred thousand dollars. A few days after
the sale it was discovered that a teenage boy had bid on it and obviously
didn't have the money for it. Also, the web site maytheforcebewithyou.com
was available on eBay.com and the winning bid went up to over $1 million.
As far as they can tell the last real bid was $300,000.

The moral of the story. Be Careful!
MayTheForceBeWithYou . com - $5,000

My guess is that the previous registrant may have himself bought it for $5,000 before the infamous $10,000,000 meltdown, but I really don't know if that sale was ever verified. There used to be interview material on Google about the real losing $6,700,000 bid, but I haven't been able to find it anymore. I was able to reg it on a drop in 2002.

Hmm very interesting! First thing that popped into my head was TM.... So I did some searching and it was trademarked. Lucasfilm Ltd trademarked it December 25, 1984, but then they cancelled it on March 27, 1991. WOW. There must be legions of faithful fans, nerd and non nerd alike that would pay a small fortune for this name. It is extremely hard to put a price tag on it. Who knows what some crazed rich fan could pay. Best of luck!
