Hi guys,

I’m Matias, a web developer from England, and I’m excited to join this community.

Domaining is such a fascinating mind-puzzle... psychology, linguistics, investment... all mixed together.

I know it’s much harder than we newbies think. But even if it's hard, I’m sure it is worth it when the first inquiries begin to hit your inbox and when, one day at last, you feel the rush of selling your first domain.

I have started by posting 7 domains on Flippa. Although I’ve read that Flippa doesn’t really get the eyeballs it used to get a few years ago. But I just wanted to do some initial testing with these 7 domains, and Flippa seemed quite an easy platform to use for a newbie.

My domains are also on the link that appears in my signature.

Like every dad, I think my babies are the most beautiful and valuable. But I appreciate any feedback on them, even if it is to tell me that my babies are worthless!

I’m here to learn! :xf.wink:(y)

Hi Matias, Welcome to Namepros from another Brit. :xf.smile:

I didn't expect to say this - but they are not bad domain names at all, and especially for a 'newbie'. (y)

I see you list some of the areas that domaining encounters, glad to see you included 'psychology' and 'linguistics', two very important areas that are so often overlooked ('psycholinguistics' is a fascinating subject that could serve you well, and every other domainer well to at least get a grounding in).

If you get the chance look into the area of cognition in the psycholinguistics field, fascinating and will explain a lot of how people read and why they read certain things in certain ways.

Just to say that there are a number of other venues you can place your names for sale as well - and don't bother paying to put your names up for sale anywhere (with the exception perhaps of some conference auctions).

Thanks Bill! I’m glad my domains didn’t seem too bad to you! :xf.smile:

(I’m actually not British—I’m originally from Spain—but I do live in Britain and Britain feels like home. Love this green country!)

I’ll do some research on psycholinguistics, sounds really relevant indeed. Thanks for the tip!

Hi Matias, Will forgive you being Spanish - I have to as my wife is half-Spanish (her mother was from Valencia). :xf.grin:

Hello!

You have joined a great Forum!

NamePros has an APPRAISALS section, tab at top of page, in which you can post domains and request appraisals / comments from other members. Note- not all names listed get replies.

At first glance some of your names look reasonable and potentially marketable.

Welcome to NamePros!

Thank you so much, WatchDogue, I'll post them on the appraisals section. (y)

Welcome and good luck! You’re correct in assuming that domaining is a difficult mind puzzle. Be sure to read and learn as much as possible before you spend too much money.

Welcome, Matias!

You certainly have everything needed to succeed. You know how to develop and you have a great eye. Anglomania, CovidGuide, YouFabulous are good names and to be on right track with the 7 first name takes a talent definitely.

Welcome to Namepros, Matias.

That's great that you know how to develop -- I too am a developer and it definitely comes in handy in this business.

A domain name is like the undeveloped land, you only realize the true value after you have built something substantial.

I like to think that I will build out every name that I acquire, but have far too many names and starting to sell some which overlap with other planned sites or areas where I want to divest from. It takes time to learn what works -- the information on this board should help guide you through this process.
