Uunfortunately I got caught up in this myself and lost money.
Basically they used a scam known as 'short-firm' fraud to trick people into trusting them.
An unofficial source from ebay believed the fraud to be £120k-£180k, but some ebayers have done some research and it looks like the final amount could be greater than £250k.
The sellers name was eportuk.
A group has been setup for victims of this scam

There are various other forums that have posts regarding it, but the main thing is to try and give other victims of the scam a way to contact other people who have also been scammed. Some people also probably don't even realize they have been scammed yet.
