Masking a Redirect

This is my first time posting in this section of Namepros, so please forgive me if this is the wrong area.

I have a question about masking a redirect.

From an SEO perspective, is this a good or bad practice? What are some advantages and disadvantages to masking a URL?

I do use blogger's custom domain feature, but sometimes I just want to redirect a related domain name to that custom domain site.

I have heard that Google doesn't really like masking, but I have no intentions of keyword spamming. Any keywords added in the masking would be relevant to the site.

Any insight would be greatly apprciated!

Thanks!

Try using a CNAME if you have DNS control. It'll fix all your problems! :) But it really depends, I may be misunderstanding what you wish to do.

RageD:

Here's an example of what I have done for my site *Please?*:

www.ple-ase.com has been set up as a custom domain (CNAME, ghs.google.com)

www.please.info is an unmasked redirect.

www.pleas-e.com is a masked/cloaked redirect

Just wondering if that cloaked domain will sink me into Google trouble. I'm not trying to deceive anyone, but just using the word "please" in various ways. My keywords are all relevant.

But if cloaking = trouble, I'll just uncloak it.

Thanks!

I'm here to gain some knowledge on this subject I have not found much currently being written about it so maybe it is no longer relevant.
