1.25. You may only bump your thread with a status update once per 24 hours unless it falls into a forum with an exception.

The above rule is specifically based on "no bump", but can no longer be broken due to a new (fantastic) system auto constraint which only bumps a marketplace thread if a new post is >= 24 hours of the previous post.

Does this mean a "post < 24 hrs of previous post" is now legitimate?

I'm checking as prior to the new function a "post < 24 hrs of previous post" was not allowed as it did bump. Obviously a non-bump post extends the time when we can bump, but sometimes it's more beneficial to add more info than a bump.

Cheers

You may only post to a sales thread as outlined in the rules, regardless of the automated system that helps to ensure that members don't violate the rules. Please read the rules carefully to understand when posting in a sales thread is acceptable.

If you have any further questions, please be more specific and include an example if possible.

I'd already read through the rules, but have just done so again meticulously to be sure.

It does not state anywhere in the rules that I can or cannot "POST" in a marketplace thread within 24 hours, or that I have to "POST" after 24 hours of previous post.
All it states is I cannot "BUMP", and as the new function stops this, there is no rule to say I cannot "POST".

The only relevant things I could find in the rules are:

6.1.10. Educational comments made by the seller are permitted on a case by case basis.

Neither state I cannot "POST" within 24 hrs of the previous post, only no "BUMP".

I'm really not being pedantic, just want to be clear, as per my last post "sometimes it's more beneficial to add more info than a bump".

Cheers

It was scheduled for us to define "bump" somewhere but I guess that person has yet to finish it.

From the FAQ page:
25. What are the exceptions to the site-wide one bump per 24 hours rule?
a. Bumps on one thread do not affect any other threads. They are thread-specific bumps and each thread has its own "timer." Upgraded accounts that have the ability to post multiple threads can bump all of them in accordance with this corresponding rule.
b. Responding to questions does not classify as a bump.

In short, everything the seller posts in a sales thread is considered a bump unless it is replying to a relevant buyer's question that pertains to the listing. Everything else is a bump.

(The exceptions to the rule should be included in 1.25, not on the FAQ page. We'll get that fixed.)

I hope that clears it up.

6.1.10. Educational comments made by the seller are permitted on a case by case basis.
This should probably be removed because it's unclear and unnecessary given the "case by case" basis.

I'll ping the person responsible for working on these pages.
