Hi guys, I'm curious as to what you think this exact phrase domain would appraise for:

MarketingAgency.com

Thanks in advance!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
HE OWNS IT. He responded to me on LinkedIn, confirming it and including a screen capture of the domain in his GoDaddy account. The LinkedIn account is also very established. It definitely wasn't set up yesterday with no connections.

Why are all you guys hating on someone with a nice domain? Jealous much?

@DealMaker1
Honestly, this is comical. Anytime you want to friend me on LinkedIn as well, be my guest. I'll show you the same exact proof. Hell, I'll do you one better. I'll even do a screen share video of me with my face in it logging into my godaddy account with the domain there. As I said, I have no reason to lie.

It seems like it has a well developed website on it.

Not sure why its owner would ask for the domain appraisal then.

Some sales reported by GoDaddy related to this name.

advertisingagency.com --- 25000 --- 2011
marketingconsultants.com --- 25000 --- 2016
marketingagent.com --- 4939 --- 2008
contentagency.com --- 7500 --- 2011
marketingstrategy.com --- 14500 --- 2017
internetagency.com --- 6600 --- 2016

According to namebio the .net sold twice in 2011 on NJ first for about 700 then for about 1300. The .co sold in 2020 for 355. DigitalMarketingAgency .com sold for 2500 in 2011. I did see a post on namebio that AdvertisingAgency.com sold for 65k in 2017 at namescon, however, I have seen that name listed many times since then on NJ, I don't know the details.

You had this name for about 5 years and my guess is the maximum SERIOUS offer you got is around 5k. People can tell you it's worth 50k 250k and it certainly is worth in my opinion high 5 low six figures, however, the chances of getting that amount without serious outbound marketing of the name is close to zero.

Wholesale it will go for under 15k unless you happen to luck out and list it when two or more bidders go at it or two end users with big budgets come across it. Usually not the case but it happens.

How did you get the name?

It is 100% owned by me. Not sure why you think I'd waste anyone's valuable time on here asking a question like that if I didn't own it. I've owned it since late 2018. The website you see now I built in late 2022 to help increase the value of the domain. That's why I'm asking for an opinion on just the domain value itself.

I think you should prove ownership to this forum. A very rare thing to have someone ask for an appraisal of a $xxxxxx domain.

Why would you build a website that adds value to the domain, only to just sell the domain?

I reached out to the owner of the website on LinkedIn, asking if they posted about the domain here. If that's you, please respond via LinkedIn. I'll post again here if / when you do.
Responded.

Yes it is.
Very rarely see such quality in the domain appraisal section. If it is yours, bravo. Solid five-figure range domain (and beyond, depending on buyer)

80-100K imo, if you find the right buyer. Nice domain. Lots of potential.

Not yours. Pretty sure. If it WAS yours, it would command around mid $xxxxx, at least. Probably in the mid $xxxxxx region. Could be.

But not yours.

If not the owner, let's give him some credit for researching the owner to come up with the forum name :)

Welcome @brettdavid , I have no idea whats going on here and why people are so skeptical... it's a domain name, your a human, a human needs to own the domain name, that's clearly whats going on

Awesome... Please note that in my post I did not claim it is not yours. I just stated that it is highly unusual to have an existing website owner to ask for an appraisal on a domain investor forum. As developing community is different from domain selling community with very little overlap.

Honestly, unless you manage to get traction with the site, it won't add to the sale price. The domains are sold either as is or with website. In the latter case, buyer expects traffic, ad revenue, paid clients etc. and bases the valuation on the 2x-4x of the proven revenue. So, if you are hoping to sell for $50k-100k, then you'd need to show $12.5k-$50k annual revenue from it. And you can fetch the same price pretty much for the domain name if a right buyer comes across (and those show up with the probability of 1-2% a year. This is why most domain name owners don't develop for sale. It is doubtful if the price/chance of sale will increase and it might hurt the chances if a) potential buyer thinks it is not for sale and walks away b) it doesn't match his idea for the name. What truly can increase the chance of sale is just nice description with a nice logo on a landing page.

Regardless, welcome to the forum. This is the best place to learn about selling domains.

High-xxxx to Mid-xxxxx (Without proof of any revenue or traffic)
In your signature you say "I quote reseller values when doing appraisals". Did you do that for this domain as well?

Personally, I like the name - but, from an investment point of view, it really depends on your purchase price.

I was just tweeting about a similar name last week - AdvertisingAgency.com which was at auction last week.

AdvertisingAgency.com Previously sold by @MediaOptions in 2011, for $33,000
Then resold at @NamesCon in 2017, for $65,000

For this particular auction it had a reserve set between $10,000 - $25,000, and I don't think the reserve was hit.

Some companies see the value of generic names like this, some companies can't even see value of their owe EMD in .com

Back to MarketingAgency

To a motivated end user, in a bull market, I'd say you'd very likely hit $75k and very good chance of low 6figs

If you were to auction the name right now, I'd say you might get to $10k (I'd be interested up to that point)

Just my 2c

Edit: spelling

Thank you for taking the time to put this together. It's very helpful and much appreciated. I acquired the domain in August of 2018 through a domain broker who was representing the seller.

Oh dear not a good introduction to this forum from some members. Nothing wrong for asking a value. I've been pondering the domain since you first posted and I'm swinging backwards and forwards between the term recognition on who of the major agencies would want to get some leverage out of it... How much income (ballpark) are you generating from your work on the domain site....

I know the realistic use is from some type of info directory. traffic is also going to be key. I guess by now you have some pretty accurate figures.

This going to be one of those domains that's going to require some outbound work , to see how far it can go

Nice domain you've got there. I brokered the purchase of the .com.au in December last year for $4000 AUD

Good discussion, I think its a great name but its waiting for the right buyer. It's very generic (I own something similar DataAgency/com) which gets offers from time to time but not the end user offer I think it deserves. For the right company MarketingAgency is a very strong brand. If you are a motivated seller and the site isn't earning I would put up a good lander showing its clearly for sale.
