Market Rate for Generic .coms?

Hi all....

I am interested to start investing in some great generic .coms that are earning $$ from purely type-in traffic but I would like to know what is the market rate for them.

I really hope the experts here can teach a thing or two :p
Just wondering 24/36/48/etc months of earnings is the industry going rate?

Any ideas will be most helpful. Thanks!

if you've successfully monetized one of these generic .com's, how long would you say it would take to make your money back? personally, i'd rather not nickel and dime-- buying a few huge names is much more interesting to me, but i'd like to know what i'm in for.

Well there are many factors that ultimately make up the value I will try to shed some light.

1. Generic one word .com's with no real powerful brandability or big traffic are still solid mid to high $XXXX. This imo would be the lowest form.
2. Decent generic with little traffic and potential to brand $XXXXX.
3. Solid generic with great brandability ( targetted ) and good traffic are easily big $XXXXX plus $XXXXXX possible.
4. Incredible targetted generic domain with huge traffic easy motitization and highly desire $XXXXXX - millions.

Now there are many factors and these are not set rules just my opinion. As for buying a generic .com based on traffic expect to pay 8-10 plus years rev and perhaps a nice premium depending on brandability and target market.

These prices are among resellers, as you may know end user prices can be much higher ( less likely but higher ). Also keep in mind most resellers ask end user prices so good luck :hehe:

You have been of great help! Thanks a bunch..... at least I know the market rate now and wont be "lowballing" anyone if I can afford to make offers for them.
