Can I just remind people that it wasn't that long ago there was talk about closing down the market place section of DOT TV.

As it seems to be an extremely vibrant place at the moment I would just like to thank everyone for making the effort to become both buyers and SELLERS. It has made visiting Namepros slightly more interesting.

OK, only the smartest in the room bought the names I put up for sale (thank you) and we may see some ridiculously LOW prices for some VERY GOOD names, but overall, it's starting to become more and more dynamic.

If you have names you don't want to hold on to - sell them! Even the likes of SearchingTV, Qoof, RL and Ronnie have thrown a few names in lately.

Who knows, you might end up with a more respectable number of names that need developing AND a bit of cash to help fund the work that need to be done.

I agree Jimbo, marketplace is buzzing just now.
I think one of the major changes lately is sellers are listing domains that have a chance of selling to other domains rather than pitching prices that only end users would/could pay.

There have been some real bargains sold via the marketplace in the last week or two, could be a great place to pick up a nice deal. IMHO

I sold 2 Geo's in the marketplace at respectable prices and i have 2 more going into a Sedo auction that were listed onmy marketplace thread so overall im delighted with the response. I priced my domains with minium bid figures rather than BIN and i think that really helped the buyer understand what type of figures to expect rather than just taking a shot in the dark like many sales threads.

Lets hope the marketplace continues to thrive!!

There is indeed a buzz about the marketplace.

Its nice that everyone has at least dropped in the odd one or two names.

This is the interesting fact about this particular phase in .TV history. Many have hundreds of names, but most have over half that they really don't wan't, and would love some of the names that others have.

What a great way for people to re-arrange their portfolios to be more suited to their domaining or developing ambitions!

It is so like Monopoly, only with real money.

Thats the exact position i'm in, around 10 of my domains i dont care much about so i offered them at low minium bids and by the end of 1 week the thread will of helped me sell at least 4 .tv's :sold:

At the same time i'm following 2 other members Marketplace threads with the hope of using half my sales money to reinvest in a domain that better suits my goals.

Great to see so much activity there as not so long ago it was a source of much dooom & gloom. :imho:

Wow

I don't think we've had a day like this on the marketplace for some time. We've presently got 24 lots up for sale already - and its only lunch in New York!!!

Keep chucking the names in - and lets play Domain Monopoly.

It's true, the marketplace is gaining more momentum now, which is great! I for one, am always on the lookout for the right names at the right price.

It's a great time to buy. There are still a fraction of great names left, and this is the place to find them! In the very near future people will wish they had the names we have :)

I think the biggest difference now is that many more people who are selling are introducing minimum prices to start off with, sensible BIN prices, or rough guides to the range they want offers. There is a lot less 'vague-ness' about the place.
It also helps that people see the marketplace for what it is - a place to offload names that, for a mass of reasons, have become redundant to the sellers own personal use. It is, essentially, a place for bargains.

As for buyers, they have begun to stop being low-ball scum who just want everything for $1. I actually sold a name on the market place for $200 a few hours ago. Many here haven't even done that on SEDO.

Things are definitely changing on the marketplace - and it's all good.

I agree 100% Jimbo.
Buyers & Sellers are now treating the marketplace for what it is & now it's became a great place for both buyers & sellers.

Showing minium offers helps an awful lot so buyers have a much better idea of the type of figure sellers are looking for, save so much time with wasted offers. IMHO
