How much do you think it's worth?

Thanks in advance for your honest opinions :)

Isn't Marijuana illegal in the US?

If so, why do you think this has value?

It's not illegal for medicinal purposes in some states, though the feds may knock on your door! I don't know about value (i'll leave it to the pros), but you could model your blog based upon concerns mentioned on some of the med. mar. forums and gain traffic probably pretty fast with good SEO. I would imagine this is a tight niche.

As more states approve of medicinal usage, and as the Fed gov't relaxes it's stance on dispensaries/home growth/etc, AND IF California legalizes marijuana use entirely, I can see this domain being more valuable as time goes on and worth more than any appraisals given to you in today's environment.

I have some med. mar. domains I will be holding onto.

You really should do some basic research before attempting to appraise. I'm confused as to how you think you can even make a valuation based on something you know nothing about. Don't do it, man.

This is a great name... and it works well with the .us extension since marijuana (cannabis) is legalized for medicinal use in over a dozen of our United States.

$49-99

Good luck

He asked for honest opinions, not absolutes. Nor did he ask me to give him your opinion.

My opinion is right now that having marajuana in your blog is not a great idea, it is akin to placing a neon sign atop your head saying "DRUG DEALER!!!" until the law is changed in every state.

Would a doctor who actually has a license want to be associated with a marajuana blog or cocaine blog or heroin blog?

Would a policeman want to have a domain called warezblog when softare piracy is actually legal and encouraged in some countries in the world??!

Just because something could be done it does not mean it should be done.

No one here can say what something is worth in absolutes, all we or anyone can do is pull a number out of a hat unless we are actually putting the money we say what they are worth on the table.

If the extension was Dutch the value would be far higher I know, but you are talking about America here, not somewhere where it is UNIVERSALLY legal.

I would not pay regfee for this, and that is my opinion...I don't have a clue what other peoples opinions are and neither does anyone else when you get right down to it and if anyone claims different I might as well have some of what they're smoking.

The key thing to remember here is that websites with illegal drug content have very limited monetization options. It's not like you can plug in AdSense or any decent affiliate program. Against their TOS.

This domain is best suited for a hobby webmaster, and they aren't going to pay much even in the unlikely event that you can connect with one.

Nice resource for the small number of genuinely ill people who could benefit, but as we all know, the vast majority of interest will be from recreational users looking for a workaround of the laws.
Good luck anyway.

Develop and look into affiliate programs for "pass your drug test" products..[drinks, pills, etc] and also for affiliate programs for legal substitutes [salvia divinorum, etc]... Even at home drug test kits.. All a huge industry.

I live in Boulder Colorado. There are a butt load of medical marijuana dispensaries in town. Some are even swanky spas. If you have a med card you can walk in, buy your meds, smoke it, get your teeth cleaned, and then get a massage. There are probably 5 of these locations within a 5 mile radius of my home. They sell edibles, Tinctures (THC Extracted to an alcohol base), and plants.

I am from the southern states of America and I never thought this would be possible but here I am at over 5,000 ft in the "highest" state in America.

Sparhawke

The question is not if Marijuana is illegal in the US.

The question here is what value the domain "MarijuanaBlog.us" has.

As long as there is liberty of speech in the US, there is nothing illegal about having a blog about a plant/drug/medicine with for example discussions for/against legalization, positive/negative effects etc.

I think it`s a good domain.

For the record:

The issue of Marijuana legality isn't even debatable.
It is illegal in all 50 states per FEDERAL LAW, WHICH CANNOT BE SUPERSEDED BY STATE LAW.

This is a stupid Federal law, it is a pointless Federal law, it's a Federal law that I personally break in a very insignificant and personal way and I will absolutely live to see the day when Marijuana is decriminalized on the Federal level- furthermore, yes, there are some states that have decriminalized it on the state level and Obama has said that he will not use the power of the Federal government to go after the dispensaries- still, eppur si muove. Marijuana is illegal in all 50 states, per federal law.

Practically speaking, state law is what counts most when it comes to personal consumption quantities, but the illegality of pot is an inarguable fact. If they wanted you, yes, Federal agents could kick in your door and take away your liberty because a 'confidential informant' told them you had burnt roach in the ashtray. A state can no more vote to reinstate slavery as they can to 'legalize' Marijuana when it's illegality is already established on the federal level.

As far as the domain name- it's a fine name for development, but right now, .us names are selling for firesale type prices and names like this rarely make it into the 'salable' category. Still, you could probably find someone to buy it, like the guy above who apparently buys pot domains.

It'll get some buzz that's for sure, but how far can you really go with it. Legalizing will only go so far, as it is right now smoking cigs are dwindling down.

It's not my thing but I am sure you will find plenty of followers ready to read your material. You should sell junk food cause most the readers will have the munchies. :)

Good luck with it!

... and if they did have a confidential informant is not what they call a reliable informant would never hold water.

[off topic alarm]

We're on the same page about pot, but you're absolutely incorrect about this.

A "Confidential Informant" or "CI" is a standard tool in law enforcement and the basis for an enormous percentage of search warrants. In most cases, CI's work directly alongside LE agencies and are regularly manipulated by the people they're working for to provide whatever information those people want to hear, which they then cite as the basis for a Law Enforcement action (surveillance, warrants, etc).

You'll find that a disproportionate percentage of onerous Law Enforcement actions can be traced directly back to a CI who was either lying, or being manipulated to lie.

When it comes to understanding how courts, cops and the law works, there are two types of people. Those who know (cops, lawyers, judges, criminals and/or regular people who've experienced 'the system' first hand), and then everyone else; who can generally be categorized as "those who think they know."

I do buy marijuana domain names and have been buying since the early 90's.
lol You are so full of crap.

"This internet thing could get really big and it's only 1993. Guess I better buy into MARIJUANA domains!"

Of course, I am speaking from experience, education, knowledge, training and having bought hundreds and sold the same.
Kind of odd since all of the domains on your site were just recently registered.

It's perfectly fine if you are new at this, so drop the "Early 90's domainer who just found NP" act. Domains always speak for themselves either way.

My advice after looking at your list is to cut your credit card in half. Bad domains are still bad domains regardless of the popularity of their topic.

Yo Rebels, i think you got a great domain, I too have several domains pertaining.... I feel that, there isn't any problem on your domain. You should consider to hold on to it until the biggest state in the USA brings it to the table here later this year for a vote of legalization. After it might be worth LOTS$$$.

This is a bit short sighted in that adsense is not the only game in
town. Direct affiliation works excellent in this niche. "Accessories"
are a huge market that adsense does not participate in. Retailers,
manufacturers and distributes will affiliate directly but you'll need to develop a stie.

@ Rebels ... Great name bro .... low $$$ undeveloped
