I know there are domainers here that own a ridiculous amount of domains, but I've also spoken to some of them who use text files to keep track of what they own. I'm just trying to gather some intel.

My question to you guys is, how do you manage your domains? Do you use your registrar's interface? Have you cooked up something on your own? How do you update your domain portfolios, if you have one at all?

small custom php script :)

This has been discussed a few times, and I think there's a spreadsheet template floating around if you search for it.

What exactly do you mean by "manage domains"?

I have a pretty good spreadsheet to manage domains. It follows renewal dates, sales, parking revenue. PM me with your email, if you'd like me to send you a copy.

For domain management I use the commercial script, DomainPunch.com. It's much more comprehensive management than any spreadsheet can offer. There is a free trial version available, but I think the cost is about $120. I highly recommend it. It doesn't follow Sales or Parking Revenues though. It has paid for itself countless times over, imho.

Thanks for the response guys.

@lothos, what features does your php script provide?
@stub, I'll take a look at domainpunch, but I'm not sure I'll be able to grasp how useful it is with my limited number of domains. What features do you find to be invaluable?

My reason for asking is that I'm meddling with an idea for an open source domain management tool, and I'm trying to collect a list of essential features.

I am actually in the process of creating a domain portfolio script that allows you to showcase your domains as well as list them for sale, and manage domains.

The whois lookup is a major, major plus, imho. Very well done so as not to get you IP banned by the Registry & Registrar (which is a tricky thing to achieve).
