How do people on namepros manage to keep hundreds to thousands of domain names? Can natural traffic really cover the cost of maintaining a .com? Let's say a domain costs $5 a year. Owning 1000 domains would cost $5000 a year. I just can't grasp the concept of such a large investment... is there something I'm missing?

I work. Money from working pays. Instead of say buying shares, I buy/renew domains.

Yes, he makes a good point. If you can make one good sale, that can pay for a LOT of other domains. Also some domains renew themself free off the money they made from ads or parking.

renewals on domains add up but if you arent starting to make money from parking or sales then you shouldnt be buying so many in the first place, start with a small number of domains and when you are profitable with those you can start acquiring more, like anything its not an overnight thing

not everyone has 5000+ domains btw, its quality over quantity most of the time (but quantity of quality is even better! lol)
