Hi, currently my server with managed.com has been down for 5 days. I have contacted support about the issue by email and phone. When I call there is never anyone there. They have responded to my emails saying that the server pings and ssh works but the web sites still don't work. When I told them that they rebooted the server and told me to check the web sites again. I replied saying they dont work and I havnt heard a word since. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem? Im loosing many customers and a lot of traffic because the server is not online. Please help!

Thank you, Josh Roy

Well my experience with managed is very bad, and im sure many people can bad things about them. You pay for the server, and bad support. Thats why i think there cheap, the only thing i can suggest is getting a server with theplanet.com. Or a company with good reviews. Other than that, your out of luck, because they have had CPANEL troubles alot, and when cpanel is down, the whole server will be down until they pay for the cpanel licenses. Look at angelnetworkz.net for instance they were a reseller of managed.com servers and probally lost over 100,000 in funds because of them/managed not paying there bills. I would look around and see if anyone else is having this problem as well. There is other good hosts such as servermatrix, and influxhost.net (they had a few bad reviews but i kinda like them, its all in preference and how the person treats you. They have aim support allmost all the time). Or i would ask your local ISP for a server, they can hook you up pretty well. Or if you have money, get a refurbished server from dell, and get a t1 or t3 connection and run it yourself.

Like i said, managed.com has some bad things said about it :(

GOOD LUCK!

As for cpanel, the cpanel license is separate, I get the bill directly from softwareworks.com.

Well its them then, they have had this problem with a server i had with them before, I kinda got sick of it and moved. There prices are fantastic but there support isnt :(

You people never learn do you ;)

Before you pick a host you should do as much research as possible. Find out all the ins and outs of the company.

Managed.com has been ranked very bad for a long time now.

PAY THE EXTRA DOLLAR AND GET SOMETHING RELIABLE ;) :tu:

I hate to see this happen to people, that's why I formed my company. I provide all my customers with the best in everything to insure they never have to go through all this pain in sites going down, no support, and ANGER!

Your sites' IP address is responding, but the sites don't come up. Seems like apache is having a problem. Do you have SSH access to the machine?

Log in via SSH with root access and restart Apache

Command:
service httpd restart

or

/etc/rc.d/init.d/apachectl restart

See if there are any errors.

I don't think he has root access as he contacted them to reboot the server. Yes you are right about the problem though.

but the company just leaving him in the dust isn't a very nice thing to do... 8-X

No doubt. You would think a company calling itsself "managed.com" would do a better job at providing managed support.

That means that you don't have root SSH access to the server :(

I've been helping jroy here, the root password doesn't work .... and whenever I call managed, all I get is some BS answer phone. sshd seems to be the only service responding.

Turns out managed deleted my server and reassigned it. I can't believe it, they said it was a glitch in the system. :'(
