I have heard many BAD things about them. There are plenty of good providers out there.

ServerMatrix
ThePlanet (pricey)
GNAX
Ev1servers (good and bad)

If you want to, private message me what you need as far as specifications or even what it will be used for. I know people that resell for both ThePlanet/ServerMatrix and GNAX and I could probably get you a deal. The reseller for ServerMatrix has a great deal of Celerons if you are interested in that, and he can also get other servers with no setup fee. So, get back to me and I will try to help you out.

I've used Managed.com for a while now, and I haven't had any problems ever. They have nice and fast support and having to complain about really. Also, some pretty competitive prices among other companies.

I wouldn't ...

Jroy used them and they cancelled his server (and wiped the drive) although he had paid. I wouldn't risk it, afterall...you get what you pay for. Spend the extra and go for somewhere like EV1Servers or SM/TP.

Cant really comment on managed but The Planet are good but as said pricey. Look at http://www.fdcservers.net

They seem good and forums seem to have positive things said and there support is pretty good when ive used it.

FDC are good for IRC. I wouldn't choose them for hosting personally.

I've been using managed since they started over a year ago for some of my servers and I can honestly say if you can manage your own server they are great. I've never had any issues with them and the only thing I request are reboots here and there and they usually do them within 30 minutes. They are a decent budget provider if you know what you are doing.

Good luck! If you're really looking for affordability, I'd suggest LayeredTech over Managed.com or FDC, I've heard nothing but good things about them. They're based in Savvis and The Planet's datacenter, both excellent networks.

Managed.com has cheap prices but many bad things have been said about them, I my self have had some bad experiences with them. Do a search on webhostingtalk.com and you'll find tons of bad posts on them.

Though as deu120000 said, if you are an EXPERT at managing servers then you might go for managed.com. However, if you need any sort of hand holding at all, DO NOT go for managed.com

Server4sale currently have some sales that you might find interesting, they are one of the top resellers of BurstNET and have some of the best support i've seen. Note i'm no way affiliated to Server4sale, just speaking what is true :).

Yep, heard bad things too, but The Planet is VERY good.

You get what ya pay for.

you get what you pay for, so why not just go to one with a better rep such as ev1servers?

I've been using Layeredtech, which colocates at The Planet DC, and have managed to keep my servers up 100% of the time. I would highly recommend them. Although I believe if you order now, you will be placed at the Savvis datacenter.
