Mall.com - Possible Fraud?

Well, came across a post on WHT with a request for help for a guy who wants to buy Mall.com. He claimed that he didn't understand what E-Gold was in his post and didn't know the website. However, there is a clear listing of E-Gold's site on the for sale page. I was a bit suspicious then and there and also noticed that there was an offer for $200 - $200 for Mall.com?!?

The plot thickens when another user notices that the user has posted in another thread that he is from Jordan. Interestingly enough, the owner of Mall.com says he cannot use Paypal because he is from Jordan. They guy responds back asking where he is from and he responds India. They both share the same pattern of broken English as well.

Smells strongly like fraud eh?

Any ideas on what would be the best way to go about reporting this to the proper individuals?

It's interesting to see that the last change happened the day before it was put up for sale and the current owner wants such a quick sale. I just don't see how a Jordanian could come up with such a domain then turn around and sell it for $200. That's not even including the suspicious forum post.

Just noticed, upon further research the domain did mysteriously change hands on the 14th and so it's pretty much a 99% sure case of fraud at this point. Also seems the previous owner has been contacted and confirmed it.

It's fraud. It's already reported in 2 other domain forums and the supposed
"real" owner is working to get it back at Go Daddy.

I've never spent $200 on a domain but I would have found it pretty quickly had that been a legit sale.

Now, if it were me that bought this domain, even though it was fake, in the time it took for them to figure it all out, I could have redirected it to some other shopping site with an affiliate program and easily make back the $200.

Last saturday, I contacted this guy. He claimed to be the legitimate registrant and stated that he had sold it for $500. After, I accused him of stealing the domain, he forwarded the following email, saying the sale was legit: (he also called me at 5:30 AM) on saturday...was interesting! He said that if I was willing to pay more, he would cancel the sale and sell it to me. I told him, I'll pass!

Do you think it is possible that the REAL owner of Mall.com would sell it for only hundrds of dollars? IF he wold he is a fool and should contact me next time he has a domain ot sell.

The answer is: YES, IT IS FRAUD!
