Making a living on the internet.

Just wondering if people here are making a living (don't have another job) on the internet, that is getting income from trade of domainnames and advertisement income?
To start with myself, I do not make a living of internet, but having said that, I just started to develop some sites. There are 2 online now, one is 3 months old bringing in around $100 a month and rising, the other is 1 month old and bringing in zero so far (only a couple of $), but soon there will be 5 more websites online.
What does this business do for you, is it a nice expensive hobby, an extra monthly income besides your week job or do you make a living out of doing this, John.

Black Hat SEO = illegal and unadvisable SEO methods, e.g. hiding lots of keywords in your page by using the same color for the fonts and background. If someone reports it, Google bans you ...end of story.

Ahh - I've been guilty of that a few times but did'nt know google bans you for it, Thanks for the explination.

I'm looking at trying to make it a living. I've been around in the hosting industry for a while and had my own host twice - it gets to the point where it's hard to compete with the other ten thousand hosts just like you so I decided to take a sales job and try to find a better niche. I think I found one and I'm coming out with a few things here soon.

There is no need nobody report it to Google, it is at least 1 1/2 year that I know google bot has the ability to detect words typed in the same color tonality of the BG , in a variety of contrast -saturation-brightness values too. Be warned.

What types of sites/domains work best for bringing in your profits, if you have any ?
- Type-In names with steady traffic?
- Dropped names that you've picked up? With old links?
- Names you've developed and paid for advertising?
- Names you've developed and slowly built a following?
- Somthing else? A combination?

The person who can earn of intrenet has to be fully dedicated to net or like he should be living on net , eating it and even sleep on net then only u can succed.

yup u r absolutely right. If u treat it part-timely, then your earning would likely be little just like part-time job in most scenario.

but if u committed yourself full time in it...then it should grow and bring the revenue just like full time job's income...with the potential going beyond it!
