Im starting college this fall and I will be attending and arts school and majoring in graphic design. The school requires that we get a macbook pro but those things are so expensive even with apple's $200 discount when purchasing it for school and the school itself doesnt offer any discounts. :( Anyone know where or how I can get one at a reasonable price for a "needy" college student? Thanks in advance.

As a recent graduate of an art school, you do not need a Macbook Pro for graphic design. A Macbook will suite you just fine. I'm a filmmaker so for editing and motion graphics, I need a Macbook Pro, but all the graphic design work can easily be done on a MacBook.

However, if it's necessary to get a Pro, you do not need to get a top model one that the Apple Store sells. Amazon has some great prices on less "tricked" out MacBook Pro's and are a good way to go. Check it out.

And if this is your first Mac, your school is forcing you to make your life better. I bought my first Mac four years ago when I first started college and it was the best purchase I've ever made.
