Student in Need of a Credit Card

My school requires a laptop for in-school usage. I must purchase one before fall, but preferably now as I'm taking summer classes. I was wondering, what is a good credit card for a Freshman in college. I've applied to several cards already only to be turned down and I always thought they just gave out cards willy nilly to college students.

I will be purchasing a Macbook Pro.

There are requirements of my school that I don't think apply to many "cheap, used" laptops. I go to an engineering school and they have some demanding requirements.

2 - 4 gigs of ram
2.0 Core 2 Duo and up
15 inch or higher
IR port

Even under the requirements they say how much it should cost.

I'm buying a Mac because I get a discount through my job.

in here credit card companies require that someone have a job with salary requirement as well, or they own a business. i don't know if trucards.com will suffice it's a virtual credit card by visa.

That is just some sort of crap(not on your side, on the shools side)

I can get you a used 15.4" P4, 2 GB RAM 40 GB HDD with IR Port for 250 bucks

You don't need the 2.0 core DUO...unless they require you to run Vista because they are Microsoft slaves lol

And please PM me how much your discount will be at your job for the mac, sounds like you have a great job?

On a serious note, i could get you maybe some pretty good deals where you don't need to sign up for a CC, just PM me...

only get a credit card for convenience or if you're ridiculously desperate for money. otherwise, you'll just spend money you don't have and go down the wrong path with financial irresponsibility. i'm also not a fan of borrowing money to pay for depreciating assets (such as a computer) as it's illogical.

also, any particular reason you're getting a macbook pro? you could get a more powerful system for the same price if you get a windows notebook, and an even better deal if you get a windows desktop.

If you don't have good credit history (or you don't have one before), it is hard to get a CC with credit line high enough for a Laptop.
