What’s your name?
A: Aguarella
Where do you live?
A: Currently in Portugal.
> Moved from Dubai couple of years ago.
What’s your level of expertise? (novice, intermediate, expert, etc.)
A: Novice.
> Made most of my professional career as an IT consultant. Great career, excellent salary, working for giant corporations (i.e. IBM), traveling and living abroad. A dream come true. Right? No
Took me a while to understand I wasn’t corporate life material. Thank you @Eric Lyon , I can relate
How much experience do you have in the domain industry? (years, experience, etc.)
A: A few months, I'm coming from a place of learning.
> I've been taking domaining courses, reading forums, learning from other domainers, videos on Domainsherpa, etc. Trying not to get analysis paralysis along the way...with so much to take in
What would you like to specifically learn first?
how to buy a domain, domain history, best selling strategies, government policies, etc.
A: Strategies + How to valuate a domain
> STRATEGIES
Curious about what I meant when I said "analysis paralysis" ? Just user the forum's search feature and type in "strategy".
And I'm only showing you a bit of what's inside Namepros...which is just a grain of sand compared to the sea of information I've gathered in the last few months. Still trying to get a feeling for which appeals to me the most, but here's a few strategies I've liked so far :
> HOW TO VALUE A DOMAIN
This is what I'm struggling with at the moment...could really use some help right now. What's your process for coming up with a ballpark figure for a domain? Is it something along the following lines :
Are you currently working on any projects or ideas?
A: Yes.
> Too many, as you may have noticed this far
What are your short-term goals in the next year?
A: Learn. Help others. Be successful. Become a better person.
> On domaining, I'm currently in the process of :
A: Learn. Help others. Be successful. Become a better person.
What was your first domain you purchased?
A: For domaining purposes : zero.
> For websites/clients/projects : several. Can't remember the first. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away...
Why did you start investing in domains? Please tell us the story.
A: Watching a crappy 10min YouTube video explaining domain flipping with Estibot was the first time I got excited about this.
> The video led me to further investigate the business, ended up finding Domainer Elite and Gene Pimentel's courses, DNAcademy, DomainSherpa, Namepros... and boom goes dinamite
This business/industry appeals to me in many different ways.
Sorry I couldn't post links, not allowed, because I'm still a new member here in the forum. Maybe I'll come back and edit once I have enough privileges.
Thank you for reading. Send some feedback, drop me a message. Or two.

- High Volume & CPC KWs > everyone and their cat... what most valuate domains by, myself included. It's a start.
- ccTLD's > multinationals often buy ccTLDs even if they own the .COM.
- Typos > If you can acquire typos in mass, cheap enough, it can be a lucrative business model. But it requires getting them at registration fee, or very close to it.
- Service + Local Geo > Examples include :
- LOCATION + NICHE
- NICHE + LOCATION
- NICHE "IN" LOCATION
- "BEST" NICHE "IN" LOCATION
- Flipping Business Owner's domain names > use yellow pages, they exist in almost every developed country. This is about finding business domain names that can be valuable to many different businesses, minimum 100 results. Examples :
- NAME + NICHE (MikesLandscaping.com)
- NICHE + NAME
- Flipping developed/lead generation sites > websites, wordpress, SEO, local SEO, e-commerce shops, Amazon, leads, programming languages...was pleased when I understood they can all give me extra opportunities, and a bit of an advantage in this industry
I've been studying the Flippa marketplace for trends and high-ticket items, e-commerce websites in different platforms seems to be in high demand, might give this business model a try very soon.
- Foreign Language KW domains > have 5 languages under my belt, and guess what? it's another plus in this industry. Yeah baby!
> HOW TO VALUE A DOMAIN
This is what I'm struggling with at the moment...could really use some help right now. What's your process for coming up with a ballpark figure for a domain? Is it something along the following lines :
- Google KW Planner > look at Volume & CPC
- Ads > lots of ads on the SERPs is usually a good sign
- Namebio > look at previous sales/compare similar keywords
- WHOIS info > has the domain been sold around often (investors) or has it been developed/end-user
- Brandbucket/Brandroot > if listed here, usually increases value.
Are you currently working on any projects or ideas?
A: Yes.
> Too many, as you may have noticed this far
What are your short-term goals in the next year?
A: Learn. Help others. Be successful. Become a better person.
> On domaining, I'm currently in the process of :
- watching all videos on DomainSherpa.com
- finding valuable threads on forums/information around the web that can take me to the next level.
- going thru all the domaining courses I can get my hands on.
- building a solid strategy and business model, trial and error.
- flipping purchased domains ASAP, meaning 1 to 3 months. GOAL : to build up confidence.
- networking as much as I can.
A: Learn. Help others. Be successful. Become a better person.
