Expect for Sedo ๏ผŒYou can see big sales of .ai sales everywhere.

You can hardly see AI sales 50000 USD Exceed the whole last year and till now at Sedo reported by weekly domain reports.

Although the extensions are not the same ๏ผŒHowere ๏ผŒyou can learn something from them.

This is not Suprisingly๏ผŒhere are 5 examples for you

Once a domainer at Namepros claimed that he sold a domain of .ai (You can checked that specific name or news here at NamePros) for 120K USD๏ผŒ and finally๏ผŒHis lie was exposed by other namepros members; the domain had not been sold, and he was still the owner of the domain.

Once a domainer claimed that he sold Wanda.com to Wanda Group for 10 Million USD ๏ผŒWanda ๏ผŒa Chinese giant realestate company and the domain redirected to Wanda.cn as people clicked on it๏ผŒYou know what ? Finally๏ผŒthe domain Wanda.com dropped and sold for 60000USD on domain auction platform.

another example ๏ผŒOnce a domainer said that he sold Weixin.com to Tencent.com with a large sums of money๏ผŒTencent๏ผŒa giant social platform in China and finally Arbitrated successfully by Tencent.

Again๏ผŒOnce a domainer said he sold bbbb.com to a Chinese rich guy with large funds and the domain redirected to that rich guy"s blog as well as people clicked on it ๏ผŒFinally๏ผŒ confirmed that the rich guy didn't bought it.

Domain medias claimed that Game.com bought from the American giant Toys company Hasbro for 17M USD and the news just like virus spread acrossed the social medias๏ผŒand finally๏ผŒHasbro clarified that the actual price is 3.6M USD.

and more

BTW๏ผŒGenerally, selling such high-priced domains indicates that the domain owner is not a newcomer.

In a sense, they are aware of the existence of NamePros, and they could easily post their domain sales directly in the NamePros reported sales section instead of having domain medias took screenshots and then posted them here on forums.

Firstly, in the early days, .ai domains were managed by a group working collaboratively. This group had already monopolized AI resources in large quantities at the registration price, and then high-priced transactions were frequently publicized to attract more investment in AI.

Second, the registration and renewal fees for AI domains are unreasonable. I have been in the domain industry for 13 years and have never seen such crazy domain registration rulesโ€”registration must be for a minimum of 2 years at a time, and renewals must also be done in 2-year increments.

Third, I previously had many quality .xyz names, such as Paris.xyz, Sys.xyz, Software.xyz, Rome.xyz, Catch.xyz, Get.xyz, Line.xyz, and so on. However, at the time, I was still skeptical about the selling prices set by the so-called 'Domain Queen.'

But the registration price for .xyz domains was extremely cheapโ€”you could register one for 2 or 3 dollars, and renewals were also affordable. During the peak popularity of .xyz, registration fees remained low, even elementary school students could afford .xyz domains. This shows that the registry had plans for long-term operations๏ผŒOverall๏ผŒI don't recommend others invest in .xyz, even though I have a large number of high-quality .xyz domains.

Fourth, from a market economics perspective, .ai domain trading prices are being artificially manipulated and do not reflect the true value of AI. While there are certainly real AI transactions, frequent and large transactions are definitely abnormal. The purpose is obvious: someone is driving AI domain trading to attract more players to invest money, aiming to buy low and sell high. ...

At the beginning of 2025, there were still many three-letter domains available for registrations. Someone invited me to monopolize all three-letter AI domains and then raise the prices for profit, but I didn't join them.

Suspecting the same with the other tld. Reg fee is less but many names are set by registry as premium at high reg fee. If anyone sees the 5 and 6 digit sales they would try investing 3 or 4 digit on a domain with a hope to get that 5/6 digit sales and end up.losing money. Some people have had real sales from businesses that were really interested in xyz because of the fake trend
but many who invested in premium names or hundreds of standard reg fee names have just dropped and lost money.

Meanwhile, i see lot of businesses are looking for .ai names as a backup or main tld but ready to spend 4 or lower 5 digits max. So i believe .ai is real to a level. Many ngtlds have renewal fee around $50+. So why not .ai around $75+ (they taking advantage of the trend to cover their investment faster) and two year reg term would make sure only quality names are registered. (Yet there are lot of two word names registered seeing the trend).

Overall fake trend creation is there on few tlds. But good .ai names can be registered at standard fee if available and have potential to be sold to end users compared to xyz which are either premium at registry end or existing names sale possible mostly by only one person. While xyz is known mainly among the domain investors, .ai is known among the end users / common people to a level which gives some promise i believe.

It's not hard to understand that news about high-priced domain sales can attract more attention and get people involved, achieving the effect of advertising. However, news is still news, with both true and false information, and you need to judge for yourself. There are two issues worth noting here:

Firstly: Did you acquire your domain at its original registration price? (low investments, high selling prices) Teams that have reached this stage have already monopolized good resources in bulk before.

Secondly: Once you obtained this domain, how long are you willing to hold onto it (time span)?

Third, the authenticity of the news needs to be investigated. It's like stock tradingโ€”you can't just listen to experts recommending stocks without having your own independent thinking.

In the domain sales section at namepros, you rarely see .ai domain transaction prices of $5000โ€“$ 10000 being shared.

However, on social media platforms, what you almost always see are AI transactions worth tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. I believe NamePros members certainly owned AI domains, but in the domain transaction sharing section, you won't see large AI transactions by NamePros members.

So 400k for a business, not a domain, right? [edit] in the footer they claim to have raised $41M, so something doesn't add up.

BTW tweet deleted?

โ€œLotus Health AI Just Raised $41Mโ€ - itโ€™s at the top of their home page.

James Boothโ€™s tweet on X said the domain was acquired for $400k. I donโ€™t know why James deleted the tweet but the people replying to it seemed to think that he had just bought the domain himself, so that may be the reason, to avoid confusion.

Iโ€™m sure that wonโ€™t stop the usual suspects spinning their own conspiracy theories, though.

Where was it mentioned in a tweet that Lotus/AI sold $400,000? @silentg

It was mentioned by @ Domain but he possibly removed it because people assumed he meant he was the seller when he was simply reporting it.

to some extent๏ผŒI can't be bothered with this kind of baseless news at all.

Domain medias here, without any solid evidence or leads, just took screenshots and posted them on forums, creating a piece of news. Such news is completely unreliable or should be banned or deleted?

The news may be misleading investors; the truth should be clarified or the post should be deleted to avoid fueling conspiracy theories. @Bravo Mod Team

I still remembered @silentg posted a completely baseless post before, reported a news transaction of ai, and other namepros members corrected him then he changed the headline of the post here.

As you mentioned, I already corrected it.
Iโ€™ve also asked you to back up your accusations about โ€œfake sales,โ€ and Iโ€™m still waiting for any actual proof.
Meanwhile, youโ€™re repeating the same conspiracy theories in every sales thread.

Ok, so basically the message is that the current owner(s) of the domain acquired it for $400k at some point in the past?
