Hallo all,

I am new to this domain business, so I have many questions to ask.
First of all I want to ask where do you register and keep your domains? Godaddy? Or some others domain sellers?
Another question: When domain expires and I backorder it, after how many time it will be mine? Few hours? Weeks? Month?
One my friend recomended me snapnames.com for backordering domains. Is it possible after I get backordered domain with snapnames.com to have it in my for example Godaddy.com account? Or do I have to have my domain at snapnames.com partners sites?
How do you trade domains with each other? What safe methods are there? Where are you selling domains? What places?

Thank you for your answers

1. It is up to you where you choose to register your domain names. Some use GoDaddy, some use Moniker, some use NameCheap. It is all a matter of preference really.

2. Backordering a domain does not gaurantee you will in fact get the domain. If the origional registrant renews, then you will not get the domain. There are also other people who backorder as well and could end up with the domain instead of you. But if you do end up with the domain, you will be notified after the domain expires and wether or not the backorder was successful for you.

3. Most likely the registrar you backorder the domain at will be the registrar in which your domain will be registered. I am sure the backordering agreement will mention where your domain will be located if the backorder is successful. Once it is obtained, you can transfer the domain to another registrar after a certain amount of time which i believe is about 3 months.

4. People can trade domains with each other themselves (always make sure you get the money first), or through a domain auction (namepros has one quite often), or through sites such as TDNAM or Sedo. Ebay is known to have domains up for sale as well. You can also find buyers for your domains in the NamePros forums as well as other domain forums.

I hope this has answered some of the questions you have been looking for.
