Lot of hits, little Adsense clicks.

In the last day and a half, I've received over 6,000 visitors to my new blog, which is about domains. I have Adense on all the pages. I just checked my stats and I've earned just 24 cents from Adsense clicks! I guess if I start getting a billion hits I might make a few bucks LOL!

Is this typical? Or is it because the ads are about registering domains and people are bombarded with those all the time?

Are there better alternatives for my blog than Adsense?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
AfternicAfternic
fastclick.. and thats about it.

No, that does not seem typical at all. I'd suggest trying different formats and placements for your Adsense code. Try to integrate it in with your content and you should do considerably better.

You mentioned the ads are about registering domains. My domain-related chanels are among some of the worst performing in click-through rate of any type of site I've owned. The more net savvy the market, the less clicks you can expect.

Still, to get 6000 visitors and only make $.24 sounds extremely low.

perhaps optimise your content around good keywords.

Can you give us the link to your blog? We may be able to help you out with banner placement / integration etc.

with that amount of hits you should at very least make $ 1-2 per day

i visited yr blog...i think you should blend in the adsense on your sidebar...
change the colors :)

this are just my suggestion:

Border: #F9F9F9

Background: #F9F9F9

Tile: #0066FF

Text:#000000

URL: #0066FF

My ad revenue is picking up. thanks everyone!

But something weird happened today. I notice that when you go to my home page, the Adsense ads are all real estate. It's always been all domain-related. I don't see anything regarding real estate on the page. The Meta Title and Keywords are about domains too. All four ads at the moment are about "Diamond Bar Real Estate."

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Nice blog, and with that many visitors to a domain name related blog, you should have higher EPM. But as RJ pointed out, you are selling to industry pros who are far more savvy about what come-ons they will click through.

It's a bit like setting up a professional quality sexuality blog, and having too many "get bigger and harder now" type of ads.

Your blog is nice - off to read it now ;)

Thanks for the kind words.

That makes sense about the tech savvy--I never click on any links either. So, I'm trying to direct people to my "My Domains" pages where the ads are more related to the category of domains. For example, the page of domains about alternate energy pull up great text ads about Solar power, etc. I'm using a "domain name of the day" link above the first article for that purpose. Instead of landing on my Afternic page for the name, it lands on the page of all the domains in that category. I'll think of some other ideas to do this too.

BTW, I won't be getting these kinds of hits all the time--it's just that tons of sites picked up that recent funny article. I odn't know how often I can be that funny, LOL!

Still all domain related to me :), you didn't mention somewhere in there that domains are real estate of the internet did you? If so that might be why it might show some real estate ads.

Okay, maybe for some reason I'm the only one seeing these Diamond Bar Real Estate ads. Can that be? Can one person always get different ads (consistently) than others?
