I'm looking to buy a domain and have a reasonable budget for it. This is NOT one of those names that I may or may not get it. I WISH to own it. I MUST own it.

I had emailed the owner, no response. I contacted the owner on phone & he said that it is not for sale. So, I decided to place an anonymous offer to see if the numbers interest him.

Which route shd I take now? Sedo Brokerage / NetSol certified offer / anything else?

NetSol certified offer suggests a certain price range of offer to make based on the domain value. Do they show the same to the seller as well?

Do Sedo brokers fix a high "appraisal" value to the domain as normal appraisal services do, and ask you to buy for that price?

Any tips? thanks. :)

Is the domain developed ? Sometimes owners are reluctant to sell because they have been using the name for E-mail. You can still offer to maintain their addresses :)
I don't think you need to be anonymous from now on - unless the owner gets several offers a week he will suspect you are behind the offer.
Just make a decent offer and why not send it via fax or snail mail. At least you are showing you are serious.

If the owner says it's not for sale, than there's your answer.

Obviously money talks, but for some people, the name might mean more than whatever cash your offering or able to offer.

It is undeveloped. But a good generic domain.

Well, I've personally sold abt 5-6 domains that I originally thought I'd never sell. :).

Why do you wish to own it? Do you really have to own it? Is it of some sentemental value to you or do you want it for a website?
If it is for a website and the current owner will not part with it have you considered proposing to lease it? They may be willing to do that especially as there is no current website using it. Just a thought!

everything is for sale...price is the factor...if it's very generic you'll have to pay up.

"Not for sale" is code for "I don't need the money so you better impress me with your offer". ;)

Agree, throw some #'s his way, you know where/how to reach him so I see no reason to use a broker. :talk:
