Looking for laptop advice

My laptop is on its last leg of life and I'm starting to look for a new one. I'm looking for something that is under 5 pounds. I'd like to hear feedback from others on which laptops/notebooks people like/recommend.

My budget is flexible, but I'd like to spend right around $1k.

Thanks,

Fonz

I use an iBook every day (not my personal laptop) and I highly recommend them, if Mac OSX is your thing.
Apple Store

They have some really good refurbished iBook sales at that link, which pass rigorous tests by Apple, so you'd save some money there. iBooks are generally very lightweight and have outstanding battery life.

Good luck in your search, let us know how things go. :)

Steve, I appreciate your help, but unfortunately I'm not a "Mac" literate.

I would recommend Acer Laptop. I been using Acer Laptop for a few months and have no problem with it. It support is good and no big problem has occur to me yet from using this laptop.

It's hard to give advice if it's not known what you expect from a Laptop, do you want a laptop for mobility or do you expect a Laptop that can handle intensive gaming practices, do you need a Laptop that can handle heavy duty graphical work?

When reading through Laptop/Notebook review sites you have far more insight you would have expected in buying your next Laptop ;)

I have an Acer Travelmate 633 right now. I've had it for about 5 years now... I'm looking at the Travelmate 3002 or Ferrari 1000 models.

I'm basicallys looking for a light/mobile laptop. Performance isn't the biggest deal, but I would prefer not to have to buy software separately. I need XP Pro with Small Business Office Suite (Word, Excle, Powerpoint, etc.)
