Hi everyone. I have posted competitions before and have always honoured payment to the winner so please enter with the knowledge that I am not here to rip anyone off! I am looking for an identity or logo for a new business enterprise that I am starting called "The Building Trust". The business will incorperate all building types and trades. I am looking for a faily corporate feel but am open to any ideas. As the business has not yet started so I will let you have some fun, with no real guidelines, colours or fonts in mind. I look forward to your entries. I will also give regular feedback so you can tell if your designs are along the right lines. Good Luck!

Requirements:

Color scheme

You choose! I don't want anything too cluttered but have fun!

Type of design (i.e., banner, logo, layout)

Corporate Identity - name and logo if possible.

Desired size (i.e., height, width, file size)

No real guidelines here but it would be good if it could be resized. If you win I suppose you could supply the design in a few different sizes.

Prize

I will choose one winner regardless of use so a prize of $20 will be put up.

Be creative. This competition will run for a minimum of 7 days (Until 12th December) and a maximum of 14 days (Until 19th December) Prize will be paid by Paypal.

I look forward to your entries! Good Luck!!

Hi Scotland,

Here's my entry. I tried to achieve a corporate feel to the design like you requested on your first post. If you want me to explain the meaning/concept of the design, please say so.

Thanks for the entries so far

Three very good designs - thank you.
1) I don't like the skyrise that you have included. I also think that the "script" type font does not work.
2) This one is better but I don't like the poker chip type logo and the words in the "title" look a little unbalanced".
3) My favourite out of the three. The words and clean and clear. They are also well balanced but eyecatching. I'm not sure about the logo though as I keep thinking it looks like a paw print!
All three are great submissions though and I hope I have given you enough information for you to make revisions.

Wow! you were busy! thank you so much for your entries.
1) I don't hink the "egg timer" symbol works and I do't like the font or the Capital letters.
2) This is a really inventive entry. I like that you have made the word trust look "Olde" but I don't think that all the different font types work very successfully together. Very interesting though!
3) A little too simple and I don't like the colour. The tick doesn't work either. I can see what you were trying to achieve but I don't think that it works in this case.
4) & 5) I really like these entries. They are very similar and I think I prefer the second as it has the blue colour. Perhaps the second one would look better without the capital letters and perhaps the font in the first one in greyscale. I really do like them though! Certainly a solid base of ideas to work from.

I think you have pasted the wrong link here?!

McLaren

Are these generic icons and logos? I'm not sure if I would be interested if so.

Quetizo

I'm not sure about these. I like them but I don't know if they are along the lines I was looking for. The blue area is a little heavy in relation to the text and I think the picture should compliment the text rather than the other way round. I hope submit again!

Thanks for all the entries so far... Keep them coming!

No, I've got the correct link.

Scotland: Thanks very much for the detailed feedback, I dont get much of that these days... even from my high paying customers. I will revise #3 and perhaps come up with a few more concepts.

Do you think you can post more details reqarding the company and who will be associate with it and your client base. For example... when you say "building trades" are you refering to arcitects, home builders, construction businesses, or perhaps what services do you offer.

This is just to give us a better idea of who we are designing for. Otherwise, atleast I think, we are just shooting into thin air. Thats one of the problem Ive found with these contests... they are not very professional. I enjoy entering my submission, but maybe thats the point. Sorry for the rambling...

Thanks for the feedback.
It was my first shoot at it, so I'll keep the logo in my portfolio for further similar contest.
Well then, back to the drawing board. :)

I have had a more careful look atyour entry and it is beginning to make sense! When I first clicked it and I saw the mug I thought I was looking at the wrong thing - sorry. However, I'm still not 100% sure what I am suppost to be loking at. If it is the three "Squares" as a logo then I like them but I cannot imagine them in context with the company name as you do not seem to have included that. Perhaps I have the wrong idea completely but if you would be so kind as to walk me though it I would be most grateful. Thanks

Splinter Freelance

I will try to "professionalise" this comp up for you splinter!! I agree that perhaps I should give you more of an insite in to the business. The buildng trust is going to be an umbrella for a number of trades. These trades will be as follows:

  • Plumbers, Tilers, Joiners, Roofers, builders, glazers, electricians etc.

We will not be offering any professional service such as architectual advice or surveying (but we wil be offering a professional service!)

The design wil be used on our website, letterheads, business cards and will be in essence our corporate identity. This identity must not be boring, but at the same time must look clean, unclutterded and professional.

I hope this is of help! If you want to know more please ask.

Quetiso

I hope that you hit the nail on the head soon Quetiso and don't have to add too many more designs to your portfolio! Best of luck.

Scotland: Thanks for the great feedback! Very impressed :) Very helpful.

In response to the associated numbers:

1) That's okay, I didn't like it myself :D
2) I can choose some more fitting fonts if you wish. E.g, all old style, or all modern, etc.
3) Heh, just an experiment.
4, 5) Glad you like. Unfortunately number 5 is an uppercase font... I may be able to find an alternative but similar font for your company name. Personally, unless it's a very modern or hitech company (e.g. software or space tech), the first letters should be capitalized (Looks cool with a company name like my Bro's: veevo --- but not "the building trust" - looks unprofessional)

Let me know ;) I'll see what I can do ^_^

A nice idea and thanks for explaining to concept. I don't think that the font you have chosen ids right as it is a litte too boxy. As for the logo above, I understand what you were trying to achieve ut I don't think that it works in this case. It overshadows the text and is a little draining. I do like yor thought process and am sure that you will come up with something better with our next entry.

vip-ip

I am sorry but I will need you to talk me through your idea. I think that I may be a little slow but I'm not sure what I am supposed to be looking at!

Thanks for the submissions, I look forward to seeing some more....

Thanks for the more detailed explaination. It definitly helped me better understand the company so I can create a more relevent identity. I was under the impression the company was based around arcitects and the sort rather than the individual construction industries such as the ones you have listed.

I plan on entering a few more designs as well as a revision to the one you liked the best, but I am busy until thurs. I will try to get it in sooner if possible

Thanks for the questions. I think that you are probably better following the ideas you has in #4 & #5. The reason I like them so much is that they are clean and look professional. As I have mentioned before the identity wil be used in all business operations and not just on the website so it has to look good on everything from letterheads to business cards. When i mentioned that I did'nt think that the letters should all be in uppercase, What i meant was I didn't like the "uilding" letters being in upercase. Having the capital "B" and "T" in trust, is all good for me, but it think that them all being uppercare looks a little harsh. I lookforward to your next submissons nad wish you luck!

Splinter Freelance

I look forward to seeing them!

Thanks.
