Logo Contest - $50

Hi,

I need a new logo for one of my websites. The site is about japanese Anime and Manga. The title is "Anivision".
The "v" should stand out a bit in the logo.

If there are too many entries I like, I may award the 2nd and 3rd place too. The prize then would be $10 for each.

Prize: $50 via Paypal

Format: .psd (if you use a non-standard font, it has to be included)

Style: mainly text-based

End date: 6/20/2006

@fried-chicken: The logos are not very good to recognize and readability could be better too

@shelly1: The girl in your logo is lizencsed to a famous series, so we cannot use her. And the text looks too simple

@guetizo: The stars would be nice for a magic-orientaed site but doesn’t suit anime. As for the color, we haven’t decided on that yet, but something bright, colourful would be preferable.

@Sammyloski: The colors are a bit to pale. Not bad, but the logo doesn’t suit a Anime / Manga community too

@Saves Th3 Day: The font is not so readable. The colors are nice. But the eye doesn’t have Manga style and it should be more integrated into the text

@will7: Colors are okay, but a bit too wild

@Timoteo: 1st logo: has potential. But the font is not so readable and the three ‘x’s don’t fit at all. The second logo is not readable at all and isn’t good to recognize either

@umxca: The second (with the color scheme from the first) would be my favourite of these three. I don’t like the letters “A” and “n” in this font – just doesn’t fit. The “spaceman” doesn’t suit to the topic. Overall, a slight gradient would be nice.

@ammo: We can forget about the lower two. The first two are nice but it isn’t something I would call a real logo yet.


I know it’s not easy, especially since most of you probably never had anything to do with the topic for this logo. So, I’m sorry if my comments where not that what you expected or too negative.

Either of those take your fancy? Could you maybe provide detailed feedback on entries, saying like, what we could do to improve rather than just what is wrong?

The colours are a tad more vibrant in the full design, lost a bit of colour in the save as I made the quality a little lower.

@will7: since it’s abaout Japan, why not putting the red dot of their flag into the logo instead of your black dot? I also like the font of version 4 better. A slight gradient effect would be nice too

@umxca: version 2 looks better. Version 1’s font looks too much like an everyday-font. While version 2 sure looks nice I wouldn’t associate neither anime, manga, community nor vision with it.

@P|A|T|R|I|C|K: This „V“ doesn’t fit imho

@ammo: Logo 4 looks interesting with its highlighted characters. But here is something missing too – something additional to the text or something that lets one think of anime or manga. Logo 2 looks nice too but the background resembles a hammer to much.

@Timoteo: V1: Again, the dots on the is don’t seem to fit very much and the font isn’t to my liking either. But I like the gradient effect. V2: The font isn’t quite right and the face doesn’t look mangaish too. V3: The font resembles the Naruto font I posted above too much.

@koncepts: I like version 2 the most. Yet the main text could do with some lights, gradients or other effects. The flames are nice but they look like they were coming from an exhaust. Perhaps combine the flames with “vision”? But personally, I have no idea how one would do that…
