Update: Our infrastructure upgrade is complete. Please report any issues that you notice.

We don't believe that we've solved all the issues in this thread yet, but now that we've upgraded our infrastructure, we're in a better position to figure out what's causing any remaining issue(s).

Please include screenshots with your reports. Thanks for helping us with this.

Works like a charm. What were the biggest tweaks?

If this holds, the biggest factor was probably related to this:

"QUIC/HTTP-3 negotiation failures. The pattern . . . is the classic signature of HTTP/3 being negotiated and then blackholed by a middlebox/carrier."

But we did squash a lot of smaller, hidden bugs along the way.

@Paul Can you confirm whether it runs on paperclip?

We're hoping @Paul will do a summary article on our awesome new infrastructure that he orchestrated!

It's going to allow us to scale our free parking service much bigger in the near future. :)

Lets discuss it in a shiny new chatroom

On a brighter note, no more loading issues
Honestly, seriously.
Way to go Paul 🥇

Sounds expensive :P

The headline is that we moved to Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (IaC). This opens the doors to more flexible scaling across multiple cloud service providers, and even bare metal. Given our pace of growth, that'll be important if we want to continue offering services for free without a degradation in reliability. We need more compute power and more bandwidth!

Perhaps a more interesting tidbit is that while this migration was all meticulously planned and overseen by humans, it was executed by AI, and any hiccups along the way were debugged with the help of AI, often much more efficiently than we could've done on our own. Notably, there were compounding JIT bugs specific to the latest PHP version running on ARM--those have historically taken us weeks or months to debug on our own--here's what that looks like when humans do it alone. This is especially impressive given that under a year ago, we found that AI wasn't able to handle the complexity of our infrastructure and was not saving us time.
