I agree but coke is a well branded name and sex.com is a generic name.

cymax is neither one of them so that put the domain in LLLLL.com category.

cymax is a brand to a few companies by the look of it, hence the price.
check google.

also since playboy paid xx million $ for sex.com, i would venture that's now a brand, or will be soon :bingo:

So are you saying that coke is a brand of few companies as well? I think not.

If cymax is a brand as what you are saying...who own the brand?

Come on arnie admit it......it's a LLLLL.com

In trademark law you can have the same name as long as in different categories.
For example , you could have a company called coke. It is a generic word too, after all, as in coal.
If you sold coke to go on the fire or pretty much anything else as long as unrelated to soft drinks, you are free to go about your business, especially if the tm office rubber stamp it.
You'll find some companies say for example using the same name as cymax may all be so small they don't bother each other. Some may have tms, in different categories.
One company may have different sites with the different configurations & been after the one .com
The cymax.com slae may have even involved a website & business, i haven't checked. None of us know.
All things you need to consider before classing it as just a LLLLL.

okay, that took all of 2 mins:

It's a bloody good typo though.
The 'F' is right next to the 'c' on the keyboard
They seem a huge furniture retailer.
Park it with those keywords & see how you get on.
When they get their site up and running, i'm sure you'll get traffic.
Problem with that is they could come and claim it via wipo, but if you only paid regfee for it, i bet it'll pay for itself a few times over the year.
Good luck

I'm sure i'll be able to find a buyer for my FYMAX.com

I don't pay much attention with these domain parking but I will parked my domain just get some traffic.

There's something about max at the end that most buyer go for. All I need is to find a company with FY as an acronym and offered it to them.

REMAX and CarMax are good examples

It's a nice brandable to be honest.
If anyone approaches you over it, you can always use the cymax sale as an example of what an almost exact brandable name went for.
Good luck with it :)

look at name Mixxy.com, I've turned down offers in the high XXX for it, simply because it's brandable, generic, short, and can apply to virtually anything. dating, links, music, pron, ads, etc,,,ahhh if we could all find end users ;)

you turned down a high $xxx offer for Mixxy.com?

I would have taken it....or at least counter offer it to low$x,xxx..but if you feel that you can do better than what was offered I would have reject the offer too.... that's of course if I'm certain I could do better.

I haven't pursue anyone yet for any of my domains but I do get some offers either Sedo or privately.
