If it spells an actual word or is otherwise meaningful (not random) ... and you have unique and compelling immediate development plans for it ... and it can help ultimately those that are "on the go", then I say it may be a good regsitration, IMHO.

Best of Luck.

I was thinking more along LLLL acronyms like abcn as an example for this post

wherein N = news

so abcn.mobi

seems sensible

You have trademark issues with that one.

The LLLL.mobi has had most of the better names picked out by now. Your best bet there is something that most of us wouldn't think of -- a foreign word or acronymn, or some specalized term that most would not know, in a market that has value.

Frankly there is not much left in mobi-land anywhere that would have obvious value. But there is a lot that can be developed - if you have an idea for a mobile site, good names are fairly easy.

abcn is an EXAMPLE! as i said. I am not going to make the mistake of posting actual names I am considering to reg. but thx anyhow.

I dont agree on this comment tho. You are contradicting yourself.

I think his point is there are not names left that you can registered that are currently worth more than reg fee, so you will have to develope the name to add value to it. An example of an LLLL that I picked up for dev recenlty is gump.mobi. I am making it into a site for funny quotes and if I get traffic and revenue will have added value to the name :)

I definitely wouldn't just reg any available 4 letter .mobi unless you plan on adding extra value to it via content... If I were you, I'd scour foreign languages... There are still gems awaiting to be found -- the reg of the day thread will confirm this.

I think that pronouceable LLLL.mobi with Premium characters would have it is value soon.

There are about a half million .mobi names regged. Long term domainers have been over and over what is left looking for anything of obvious value. But there are lots of names left - not many that you can easily flip for a profit, but many good one and two word descriptors that can be developed.

Definitely. Sadly, most newcomers are looking for a quick buck, rather than long development projects.

edit: One doesn't need to poke around the Alexa Top 100 too far to see many great sites have "less than premium quality" domains.

I'd stick to foreign languages for a quick buck. There are still some around that may make easy mid XX flips.

LLLL.mobis will be good, but the name should relate to a mobile exprience or to a country that can't really access the net from a PC , ect....(or to the whole world in general)

I think my last LLLL reg was GORX.mobi

But if I change the caps down it spells GoRx..mobi Looks alot different now, right? Only because it has a purpose! :) Type it in and watch what happens....Anyway I am no pro yet, but i am learning everyday and trying to brand and develope most of my names! :)

Absolutely true. I reg'd "plastic surgery" and "liposuction" in portuguese the other day, something like 90K and 35K Brazilian ovt, and everyone in that country is interested in getting plastic surgery. Those could be flipped right now for a profit I believe. There are plenty of foreign language good domains left.
