Do you really think random/bad letter llll.com are worth the price to buy and renew based on the percent chance of an end user sale and the average value of a sale? I think there are much more salable names to be had much cheaper.

I beg to differ. People who don't want to admit something pretend it isn't there. They "forget" about their LLLL.coms and let them drop. This has not happened on a large scale as some predicted.

It is unlikely that domainers who take the steps to renew their 4Ls are unaware (or as others like to put it, "in denial") that the LLLL.com market is way down from where it was at its peak. I believe most are painfully aware of that fact. They renew their domains because they believe the market will improve.

Enduser sales are only part of the equation. AFAIK nobody really knows how likely enduser sales might be - right now or in the future. My guess is they will get increasingly likely as time goes on since the supply is finite and the pool of prospective buyers for these domains is growing exponentially as more and more of the developing and developed world comes online.

The other part of the equation is the reseller market. In recent weeks the wholesale value has been trending upward. By most accounts the increase for the lowest quality now stands at about $5 over where it was a couple months ago. That means that those who renewed their domains pre-buyout anniversary have already made most of their renewal fee back. If the value only rises another $5 in the next few months they will be back in the black on their investment.

Also, with a portfolio of say 100 domains, it only takes 2 or 3 decent (not great, maybe even below average) enduser sales to cover all your renewal fees for the year.

I think there are much more salable names to be had much cheaper.

Many, if not most LLLL.net investors are investing in quality LLLL.nets which would fetch $100+ as LLLL.coms.

I do think a good LLLL.net stands a better chance of finding an enduser than a bad LLLL.com.

Suppose an enduser already owns the quad premium LLLL.com -- it's a good alternative.. I'm not invested in .net at all myself at present, however I do believe the approach has merits.

I'd rather have 100 quad premium LLLL.net anyday over 1 bad LLL.net.
