New Member Disclaimer: Four letter domain names are a relatively new investment category that is only beginning to gain traction in Dotcom. This domaining sector offers potentially larger returns than traditional revenue or traffic based domain names, however with this investment opportunity comes extravagant risk.

Yeah, I just bought 3 names for development. So that ought to keep me busy. :)

Only if I can get my hosting to work.

Bfluid is a cPanel noob. It isn't even funny how little I know about it. :D

-, even I used to struggle with cPanel when I started, Try watching a few tutorial videos or use FileZilla as a FTP Client. Now all you got to do is drag-and-drop the files into public_html.

I got my eyes on a triple premium for development but the owner is demanding $1.7K for it. Outrageous?

I've had that happen, bunch of people who have had the domain for 10 years and it has sentimental value + the don't know market prices

Yes, I tried to negotiate and $1.75K is the price he came down to :p
I was prepared to pay $300ish for it and he wanted $2.5K in the beginning. The domain is nothing special, just something I like.

It's been registered in late 2007 and the guy seems to be a domainer from what I can tell.

Do you want to disclose the name of that domain? May be someone of us has something similar in our vaults and can offer it to you even for less than $300?

Thanks for offering vlad but the name I have in mind is pretty much niche-specific and there cannot be another name like it. It is totally coined and I just thought for the sake of uniqueness I'd start the project on a 4 letter .net.
I guess, I'll just go in for a regular keywords domain.

Rep added to all who replied.

Just picked up KKKL.net, any ideas on fourm value?

Here is some data taken from all LLLL.net that have been taken so far, showing the percentage that each letter appears in each position of the domain. It's interesting to see what letters are more popular or less popular at certain positions. Hopefully this can help some people in determining what domains are best to take. Enjoy :)

Thanks for nice info rpanella (Can't add rep now :()
Bad letter 'Y' on Position 2 better then premium letters 'F' and 'G' and
on Position 4 better then premium letters 'P','G','B','R','H' and 'F' :)
The best four letters domains:
1. sass
2. asac
3. coca

Yeah, I also noticed that and I attribute that to the pronounceability factor that "Y" adds to the domain.
For example, if "Y" comes in the second or fourth place there's a greater chance that the domain is pronounceable than if "Y" comes say in the first place.

Yep, it makes sense why Y is more common than even some premium letters in the last position, because many pronounceables/CVCV sound good with a Y at the end.

Only by hand after testing with TextAloud or any similar program (Babylon,...)

Some % of pronounceability could be added imho.
Something like this:

VCVC
CVCV

Are typically more pronounceable, off course depends on letters, thus the %

Asap gets 100%
Aqop gets 50%
Cola gets 100%
Qyxi gets let's say 70%

Then we have repeating letters:

LOLL gets 95%
Kkex gets 90%
Goog gets 90%

Then h

Lhen can get 80%

And we have many many other good examples

Names like rtzx get 0%

I guess we can develop some idea around this and bug glabnet to script it. :)

No, it can be pronounced like eR Tee Zet iX. :sold:

Just as an IMHO, pronouncability has a lot more to do with branding. Branding has to do with .com (mainly).

However on another note (and I know I may write the same things again), I see the only hope of LLLL.net investors is more players joining the game. People here even express this desire and take this into calculation maybe as the first source of potential buyer.

I still think there is no real market for LLLL.net's and there is a false one that does not fill in any real need, in fact a market is artificially created. But do feel free to not agree with me.

•••
That's exactly what I too used to think about LLLL.net's till I analyzed the whole thing a little more closely.

I totally agree with you about the brandability offered by only .com's but the same old arguments of an end-user's budget come to the surface again.

It is certainly not a artificial market, in fact it is as real as it's .com counterpart :p
Maybe, anti-premium and low-quality 4L.net's don't have a future but the higher-end names surely have a bright future ahead.
