Drop rate stays low for April, only a total of 2035 for the month. New registration is 6719. The available pool shrinks 4684 to a total of 41240. If the trend keeps steady, we see the end of the year as the day when all LLLL.com are taken. Go to dyyo.com for a graphic view.

Four letter domains consisted only of the premium letters are mostly back ordered. It is becoming rarer to see those for sale anywhere. As the total drop of this type in April is only about 1 per day, the competition is quite strong.

Four letter domains started with 'A' are consistently not available in the pool. They are picked up fairly quickly when dropped. While the number of domains started with 'B' and 'C' is just about 200, we may see the available domain starting with 'D' in a couple of month.

The pronounceable four letter domains are commanding big premium now. But it is quite subjective with regard to how easy to pronounce something that is not a word.

Hi 3par, I`m a daily visitor of your great site.

I got a couple of questions for you regarding it.

First, I wonder why the total amount of available names may change each day of more than 1,000 but in the just dropped page we don`t see 1,000 but just a few dozens.

Second, I`d like to know what time of the day your database is updated and how do you update, I mean: obviously you rely on some other whois since you are not Verisign.

Third, do you pick and take off the list any name before to show the list to us? I`d assume so and there is nothing wrong with that, it`s just make sense, so hopefully I did not offend you with this question.

Kind regards

1. The drop list only consists of domains previously registered but deleted within last month. Even though the traffic testers dump thousands of names per day, majority of them are fresh registration, and cannot make to the list.

2. Now the list is updated 6 pm Pacific Time, I might move it to 6 am Pacific Time in the near future.

3. I don't use the drop list myself. The list and the available domains are generated automatcally. I do register both dropped and avaiable domains. But I don't use my own site. :)

Best wishes.

Thanks again for the info,

So we are down to our last 9%.

I expect the domains starting with B,C,D & E to steadily be bought out but I do consider the letter S to be better than all of them.

Thanks for the valuable information, 3par! I'm looking forward to your May report in another week and a half. One feature I'd love to see at dyyo is a downloadable list (plain text format) of all the available llll.com. Your browsing and search interfaces are great, but sometimes we like to do our own analysis of the available names.
