I am going to start redoing these threads without the "countdown" part, as well as no "availability" lists since those are frowned upon apparently.

Anyway, good to see another LLL.IO sell. Now we have a years worth of sales data, which is great! Another sale yesterday for low XXX. It's good to see that many LLL have sold over 2015 with prices well above the reg fee.

@Metalogics and @pleasega - I visited your auction pages and I like your IOs much better AFTER seeing the suggested meanings. I would put THAT in your sig lines.
I look at too many domains a day and sometimes the most obvious acronym or abbreviation passes me right by, so SHOW it to me : grin :

Scanning the LLL.IO's and it's interesting how constant the reg's are. Every week it's 40 to 50 registered(sometimes a bit more) which doesn't seem like a lot but when the domains are between $30-35 each, it's at least $4800 per month which I think is good. Then you got the Flippa/Park/Sedo sales that continue.

Did a test on Flippa with the .IO auctions and there is way more interest in LLL compared to one word domains (Unless you have something specifically tech related). Made money on the LLL's but then lost it on the word domains.

Can you please clarify a bit? What 'LLLs' and which 'words'?

LLL is any three letter combination. Obviously actual three letter words are more valuable, but given the growth of LLL.com's, the demand did branch off into other extensions. Over the last year any LLL in .net, .org, .biz, .co, and pretty much every other main extension has become more in demand. Values and popularity are all relative depending on their extension, but this is the shortest category available since more one and two letter based domains are long gone in all extension or command high resale prices.

Sold another LLL.io for $180 - it looks like buyer is a company so I probably could have squeezed more... if my landing page didn't have $200 BIN.
I think I will have to rise it a bit in the future.

Pity .ios have such a high renewal price - I have better luck with them than with for example my brandable .coms

Would it be good to hold on to these for longer? Or do you think .io interest might fade one day in the near future? Just wondering why people are selling.
I have two
vav.io
irm.io (bought it when I was new and thought I could sell it to http://www.ironmountain.com/ haha, since that's their stock ticker symbol. It's also "information rights management", apparently)

I'm keeping hold of nearly all of mine, personally. We're still seeing new techy startups using the extension (I'm doing that myself), and there's plenty of potential for growth.

4 yesterday - and there's only a few 3L dropping everyday. Interesting.

I wish I could afford to renew all of mine (I went on a bit of a shopping spree so I have... well, don't ask :xf.eek:)

@bluebox Moniker has IO transfer for $20 and they have had transfer specials, Feb it was 20% off IIRC. Register/Renew is $25, so once I figured that out most my IO are there. Of course depends on when your renewals are due

I think it is odd people are paying such high prices for dropping LLL when there are still so many available to hand reg. I am partially over IO, I have some pretty good ones, when I started to get frustrated with the LLL end of March I bought fkk/io LOL

Yeah, you mentioned it - but I still don't trust them... I might change my mind the next January/February. Than's when my renewals will be.

And it still leaves me with a $x,xxx bill :xf.eek:

As already mentioned, why so many regularly 3L are going away for that much when there are still that many left for reg, they can not be all end-users.

Nevertheless, still waiting for that one chinese investor/holder who catches all the remaining 3L's, so prices will rise up and ridiculous sales like mine (n/n/m dot io for 30 bucks) will never happen again :\\

Like a dumbass I put $30 instead of $31 so the buyer beat me by $1.
Probably better this way - I already have too many LLL.ios

You may give me your good ones, so I can try to sell them again for $31 :xf.grin:

But auctions cost $9 + 10% commissions...
I think I will sell some here in the next few weeks.
