I'm impressed with Spaceship's seller hub, and REALLY impressed by their 3% commission on sales. I don't know of anyone cheaper. Having said that, I decided Spaceship will be my lander of choice. I'm a creature of habit and normally stick to a set methodology for all of my domains (eg. register with Porkbun, list on Spaceship).

However, I still have much to learn and feel like I am missing some pieces to my standard format. I see a lot of people talk about listing on both Spaceship and Afternic. This confuses me because I don't understand how that's possible. For instance, my nameservers (NS) point to Spaceship. Is it even possible to change NS to multiple sites?

Does anyone have any advice about this? Also, if you're listed on multiple sites, who gets the commission? If you sell via Afternic, but your NS point to Spaceship how is this determined? I appreciate any insight.

At the moment I just have my dot .Ai on both Afternic and Spaceship. I've only this week gone through a similar process. I had to firstly change nameservers at Dynadot (or your own registry) to point to Afternic. I also added the verification Nameserver as the 3rd nameserver. I could after a short while list the domain into Afternic. Once there and updated I added to Spaceship and changed the nameservers at Dynadot to Spaceship. I had was without any problems.

It's a little bit of a fiddle but once you've done it once it will all make more sense.

Good luck.

You'll break and lose HTTPS traffic if you mix name servers among various services because each service won't be able to get a security certificate for your domains if you do that.

Afternic will check the nameservers on the domain at the time of the buyer's payment to decide which commission to apply to the sale.

From the seller perspective, the commission will go to the platform that sells it . If it is sold on Spaceship, then Spaceship charges the commission. If it sells via Afternic, then Afternic charges the commission.
NOTE 1: If sold via Afternic, they have multiple commission structures. Firstly, based on your setup (list on Spaceship and Afternic, while having NS pointing to Spaceship), go to your Afternic account and TURN OFF their BOOST feature. They charge an extra 5% for the BOOST feature turned on, and you won't be getting any benefit based on your setup.
NOTE 2: Afternic charges 15% Commission if your nameservers are pointing to them. When your NS are pointing elsewhere, they charge an additional 10% (so that would be 25% or 30% if you have BOOST turned on).
NOTE 3: if you sell a domain name on either platform, it's best to remove it from any other platform where it is listed. Or at least remove the BIN until the sale is finalised, then remove the domain name from other platforms.
