Linkback spam and other annoying Blackhat techniques?

I find this annoying with automatic blogs and software like "linkwhore" trying to link back to create more links for their own gain. Of course when you are dealing with automotons, mindless robots and people that hit replay without care, they will never compete with a simple no response whereby their trackback will never see the light of day. Piss off a blackhatter on a forum and they will try and worm their way in.

Ok, its annoying like a pesky fly. How do others deal with it, especially bloggers? I guess ignoring them is the best recourse.

Depending on just how much they are annoying you there are a number of ways to deal with them. Akismet is one - written for various cms packages. Another is to block them at the server level via htaccess.

Or you can do as i do for the truly annoying ones - do a whois on their domain and send them an email telling them that their spamming is useless as you don't publish trackbacks etc. If that doesn't work send a notice to their host and domain registrar notifying them of the spamming - be sure to CC the spammer. 90% of the time that works the first time.
