Hi,

I just bought a domain and Godaddy auctions.. Is there any 60 day limit which prohibits me to resell that domain?

You can sell to another godaddy customer and "push" the domain within godaddy. To transfer to another registrar you have to wait 60 days.

I was wondering if one could get round this with a lease with an option to buy. On reflection, I think it's easier foir the buyer to open an account, and to accept a push. He can then transfer it later if he wants to.

Thanks, how about if I list it on GoDaddy auctions immediately after winning... will they not push it to another registrar if someone else buys it.

Excuse me if this is a silly question.. just a newbie to all this :)

Re: 60 day lock

Also, isn't therea rule that if you change your WHOIS contact info, the 60 day countdown starts all over again.

Yes, you may list it on godaddy auctions immediately after buying.

On godaddy, there is a 5 day push lock. After 5 days domains can be pushed to another godaddy account.

No, godaddy will not transfer it to another registrar before 60 days. After that, you may transfer yourself.

Push and Transfer are 2 different words with different meaning, hope its clear now.

Good question, not silly, these are all doubts any new domainer has. Keep them coming.

Just a comment on the difference between push and transfer.

As has been mentioned, a push is a transfer to another account with the same registrar. This means that the registrar still has control, and, in the even of a dispute, the registrar can reverse the ownwership without reference to another party.

A transfer involves a change of registrar as well as a change of registrant, and this makes a reversal far more complex. It involves the cooperation of at least three independant parties - the losing registrar, the losing owner, and the gaining registrar. It is far more difficult to organise this cooperation, and this is why the 60 day rule was introduced.
