If we like a certain post and want to express that. a TR is not suitable and REP is too much.

One of the biggest problems on forums as you may know is 'posts boosting'. There are users who LOVE to say 'thanks' when ever they can. How can it hurt? Their post count goes up, they have nothing to loose.

There are also users who really like to express their thanks to post but don't like posting a post that looks like they're post boosting.

Then comes the moderators who have to delete people's thanks yous so a thread can look readable with out the thanks yous thrown around.

Finally comes the posters of these useful posts. They have no idea how many people really likes their posts if only some people say 'thanks'.

So adding a "Like"/"Thank you" Button to each post should satisfy this, encouraging users to keep posting useful info and people rating content.

here is a plugin for vbulletin

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Yea .... we generally just post an opinion with
a note that "rep" was or will be given.

If you know how REP works, then Yes :)
you cant REP a person for each individual post, you must rep other people before you can rep that user again.

This Button is for each post, and has a counter or a list of people who "like" that content.

You see its about content and the people writing and reviewing it.

I see, but it still seems somewhat of a duplication IMHO; thanks for the suggestion! :santa:

Well REP and TR are for rating a USER and this suggestion is to rate CONTENT.

Maybe REP is over-rated

I had seen this being done on another forum
and was actually thinking of suggesting it
here. Basically you would see the user names
of everybody who liked a post in another box
below the post box.

Don't know if I should mention the name of the
forum here but it is a well known internet marketing
forum that starts with W, ends in forum.

On the left hand side below the avatar and personal info it says:
"The Following 6 Users Say Thank You to (username) For This Useful Post:"
to the right of this, under the post, it lists the names.

I think it's a great way of adding more feeling of community, since
everyone can see this.
