    Type of Contest: Logo
    Prize: $50 USD (paid via Paypal)
    Contest End Date & Time: Thursday, June 4th @ 12:01am

    I have a client that's decided to use their self-isolating time to start a lifestyle blog, and I want to help them out with a logo. I've pulled all of the notes together that they sent me and I think I've managed to organize things fairly well, but please let me know if you have any questions.

    General Requirements:
    A logo for a brand called "Red Willow Tree". The logo should be of, you guessed it, a tree!

    Although the brand is Red Willow Tree, the logo does not have to be the perfect representation of a willow tree. Inspired by a willow tree is just fine.

    Usage:
    This is starting as a lifestyle type blog that will initially focus on balcony/container/small space gardening, hydroponics, DIY related to this, and possibly some cooking related to the gardening. It may eventually include aquascaping (aquarium/water gardening) and house plants.

    Format:
    PSD/AI files, and the name of the font used (and if applicable, where to obtain the font from if it is not stock). The logo may eventually be used in print, if that helps with formats.

    Font:
    The font should not be too "script-y". Readability is important.

    If a 3rd party, non-stock font that needs to be purchased is used, please include the name and purchase location (nothing too expensive please!)

    Size:
    The logo will be used on a website and all major social media accounts including YouTube, so it would be great if it were faily easy to adjust the logo size so that it can work with various dimensions. Creating a bar version as well as a badge version to suite those would be awesome as long as they are unified in design.

    The logo may also eventually be used in print, if that helps with sizes.

    Color:
    Background: Transparent (or white with the ability to easily hide that layer)
    Rest of Logo: Despite the name Red Willow Tree, the logo does not have to be red. I will want the ability to easily recolor as this may happen seasonally. Dual color or single color is ok but file must be set up for easy recoloring.

    Themes:
    Happy, healthy, warm, welcoming, life, nature, learn, motivation

    Additional Information:
    The logo should not include any people.

    Some tag lines being played with are “Roots and Branches”, “Branch out”, “Plants are Magic”. Please don't include any of these in the logo as none of these are set in stone but might help with the feel of the logo. If you really like any of them feel free to show a version with it but also one without.

    I LOVE the bare branch tree and root look but don’t think a garden centered blog should have a dead looking tree... if you can come up with something that can kind suite both go for it but the logo should say life and nature. All files below are simply inspiration. If you have a vision go for it!

    Pictures, Drawings, and Logos for Inspiration:
    I've created an Imgur album with a bunch of images that my client sent me that they liked, which can be used for inspiration.

    Some feedback from my client:

    @kraman.157 - wow. You are fast! :). I didn’t expect to have good options so quickly. Love that you included a tree in your designs. Having one of the “L” in willow be the tree is a really neat take on integrating the tree into the design. While it is ok that the tree isn’t a perfect copy of a willow I think the taller trees with a singular, thin, trunk aren’t quite what we think of as a typical willow. Maybe a little more movement in the logo, possibly with the tree more separate? Either way thanks for the multiple super fast options.

    @Altruist Design - you are also rather speedy! I really like how organic and natural your tree feels. With the tone on tone will it be an easy recolor? I really like the red in your designs, really nice color choice, not too red but a great shade of it. I do worry it might be a bit too harsh in some of its uses or not stand out enough - say as an overlay on a video with green as the primary background or where it’s a mix of dirt and green. Not a problem as long as the coloring is flexible though! Overall though I really like the designs. Thanks for submitting it!

    @namealbum.com - Thank you for your submission. I am not sure it quite fits the style of what I envision. I like, of course, the tree but I am not sure it is the right kind of tree for the name. It may be just a bit too far from willow or what is commonly thought of for willow. I am also a little unsure what the curvy lines hanging from the branches are. It’s just a bit unclear what purpose they are serving in the design. You have a good color combination though the brick color is a little more conservative that I would like to go, though that is t really a factor it the file is easily recolored. Thank again for submitting and putting time towards this.

    It is done in vector. It would be very easy to recolor in Illustrator or Photoshop.
    I can also include a single color version as well as a watermark PNG.
    The watermark would be 50% transparent white with a 50% transparent black shadow around it so that it can show up on any colors.

    @Altruist Design, way to bring it to life! Thanks for the great example! The only thing that keeps standing out to me in a negative-ish way is the font, most specifically the Ws, I'm just not a fan of them for some reason. I still really love everything overall though!

    @Altruist Design
    Thanks for some more options.Tree in yours is still the standout, I just really love it.

    @BagusDesign
    1st Submission - Really unique and creative take on it and I really like your logo overall, though I am not sure it is quite right for my project. I am also a bit concerned abour readability, the R gets a little lost. I do see the leaf inspiration but I would like the nature aspect to be a bit more prominent. Yours is a little too subtle.

    2nd Submission - I like the overall feel of this one much more. The graphic and the font really pair well for a nice cohesive look. If the project was a bit more corporate/professional it would be absolutely perfect. For the current project it might be a bit too... I'm not even sure what the word is. Corporate? I guess it's just a bit too much on the professional organization side of things... I can't help but keep picturing like a wellness center, health organization, or some sort of financial services company. Great job overall and thanks for providing such diversity in your submissions!

    @namealbum.com
    May 30th Submission - I realy like the overall look. It is absolutely readable and a nice clean look. I think the tree is a little too abstract for this project but I like the over all shape and roundness of it. It's a really nice abstract representation of a willow.

    @kraman.157
    May 30th, 1st Submission - Nice overall readability and I like that the graphic is immediately recognized as a tree. I am not crazy about how flat the top of it is and the clear "V" in the center of the branches though. The tree is formed from organic objects but they don't seem to be assembled into a very organic/natural shape. Maybe it is the complete and perfect symmetry that is standing out to me? I am not crazy about the color choices, not a big deal as they can be recolored but in the black and white I think the text can get a little lost.

    May 30th, 2nd Submission - Same notes on the tree. I like these color choices so much more especially the blue/green gradient. I also really like the change to the text. I really like how readable it is and I like the lines to either side of tree adding a little bit of contrast to the graphic. I also like the orientation of the graphic to the text. Easy to adapt that to many uses in the projects I listed above.

    May 30th, 3rd Submission - Same notes on text as first submission. Unfortunately this tree doesn't work for me either. Just a bit too unnatural/off from the inspiration to work for me. The peak and center point stand out to me the most but the tree also feels a bit cramped to me. Not as free feeling as I would like to represent.

    @logoexpert
    I really like the original take on the tree and if I go in a less realistic track this would be a frontrunner. It is very clean and looks like I could really do some fun things with the leaves in recoloring. I really like the overall composition of yours as well and feel like this shape will easily lend itself to the potential applications mentioned in the overview. I like the balance of the straight lines next to "tree" with the curves in the tree, it's a great contrast that draws you in.

    @kraman.157
    I really like both of your new submissions. Colors are all very nice and both the trees are closer to what I envision for the project. Only note would be it would be great to see the full branch structure of the trees, letting the circles frame them instead of them being cut off by the circle. Of course not knowing what graphic started with it might look like garbage. Either was these are both great options, thanks!
