1/ The media.net sale of $900 Million just underlines that domain sellers (even the Rick Schwartzes of the domaining world) are the equivalent of shaking the sofa for loose change - while entrepreneurs get PAID

Turakhia bros got $900 MM cash from this sale (assuming post acquisition targets are met)
With their other businesses taken into account, the two are worth at least $1 billion combined!
While in their 30's!

And worldwide, there are many magnitudes more entrepreneurs (and even early employees who got cheap shares) worth $10's of millions & more - than there are total domainers "making a living" (ie earning McDonalds wages or less. LOL)

2/ Meanwhile (99% Majority) Domainers are feeding off the scraps...cannablizing & competing with each other in the drops for expired random domains...

Not only do domainers have to wait around for (potentially) years, fend off tons of $100 offers even for top tier domains (as if they're doing you a favor), fight tooth & Nail to prevent getting beaten down by inquirers, insults & fake sob stories (to try get a lower price), they might even have to deal with UDRPs..

Then there's the following to "look forward" to:

- SPAM from fake renewal services
- SPAN from vaulation services
- SPAM (writeen in Chinese!) wanting to buy LLLL.com for $100
Does the phucking idiot think everyone can read Chinese!?
- SPAM from fake cancellation notices
- SPAM from web dev cos
- SPAM with attachments containing virus/malware
- SPAM from Chinese selling accounting software

Domainers are literally at the bottom of the food chain...

3/ Entrepreneur makes it happen...Domainer waits until entrepreneur makes it happen (when they might go for the domain)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Very true - domain sales are one-time events and quite often for $XXX after spending countless hours of one's time looking through expiring domain lists, evaluating prospective domains as potential investments, bidding against other investors, paying renewals for years and oftentimes dropping many at a 100% loss and then someone wants one of your best domains but is unwilling to pay more than $100. There are few individuals who entered domaining in the last twelve years who are wealthy as a result of pure domaining. Most of us would be better compensated for our time and money "invested" by doing something other than domain gambling.

A domainer is an entrepreneur...

But some people only settle for buying and selling domains.. While others in addition develop names into Internet startups... Because those startups could end up being worth millions or even billions.

I would say my long term goal would be to develop some of my names into actual stations or companies. It takes some capital so it's not something that can be done overnight.

Domainers should also see themselves as the enduser too!!!!
