To those just starting out here's a lesson I recently learned, or maybe relearned.

I was purchasing writing services from someone through a freelancing site and everything was fine, so I started dealing with the person outside of that community to save the listing fee. I paid $75 for an article, and after asking for some edits the relationship quickly went sour. $75 is a good amount for an article, and I was willing to pay it because I wanted the continued support and edits to make it as good as it could be. But it doesn't look like I'll be receiving those edits.

So, even if you've had success with a provider in the past, remember that going through a rating site (or a forum with ratings) always benefits you because people don't want the negative feedback. Instead of getting a nasty email, maybe I would have received something polite.

good advice.

many people have different standards for different cash amounts. forums at least standardize it a bit, even if they do saturate the market.

I agree completely. It's always best to have as much scam protection as possible when dealing with anyone on the internet. Even normally honest people can change when it comes to making easy money.
