I remember few months back, someone around here mentioned that they tested having less ad blocks will yield to better per click revenue.

I tested it, and it actually was better.

i usually thought using the maximum ad blocks allowed with AdSense might be better, when i reduced to only 1 Ad block, revenue increased.

Now, since AdSense allows to have other advertisements on your page, such as adbrite...etc, will that cause to less revenue?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

that will probably decrease the amount of clicks on adsense (more other stuff to click), but the earnings per click should stay about the same (bc same amount of adsense blocks).

in theory at least.

I believe the reason is your CTR is higher, the less ad impressions you have the great your CTR, which in theory pays more per click.

why would a high ctr pay more per click? this doesn't make sense.

If you have a higher CONVERSION rate for the ads which are clicked (or Google determines by some other Google algorithm voodoo that a click is likely to turn into an "actionable business result"), the advertisers will be charged more for clicks on that page and in turn you'll get more per click overall than you would with a poorer-performing site/page/account.

Regardless of the CTR, if the ads don't convert you'll eventually get smart priced down (though it may take longer to take effect with a low # of clicks).

The highest bidding advertisers will show up in the first ad block and the ads for lower-bidders will be in successive ones, which is why you'll often get more per click with fewer ad blocks.

Not to mention ad blindness - if you put too many ads on a page, you risk turning away the user, or else they just don't see the ads in searching for the content.
